I know it's an old song, but it doesn't get old to me...

I think it's saying I'm searching for the truth, I believe in a higher being, but where is the complete truth? show me god, I've been looking. I know you exist, but where is truth?

It touches on different types of religions.. and then the whole science vs religion issue in verse 2..it's someone wanting to find the truth.

i dont think its little people vs big people... I think it's about having humility.. even if you don't believe in god, you have to be able to admit that you were able to do things in your life not just with your hard work, but with someone's help along the way, whether it was direct or indirect..

But as far as the status thing goes, I believe it is pointing out the irony how the elite look down on others, when they have faults too, they just arent as visible as others. Humanity itself would be better if we understood each other to lift another up, rather than pointing out faults to make ourselves look better

Random story... but true..

i was working in a boutique this past christmas for a second job. In the morning this random little old lady came in and I asked if she needed help finding something. She said yes, and told me to get a pen and paper. Weird request, but okay.. so when I get back with a pen and paper she told me to make a list... a list of everything I have that wouldnt be possible without God. She told me the first on her list was the air she breathes... So after she left I kept thinking that there was no way I could ever complete a full list, so instead I gave her the lyrics to this song...

"For behold, are we not all beggars? Do we not all depend upon the same Being, even God, for all the substance which we have, for both food and raiment, and for gold, and for silver, and for all the riches which we have of every kind?" -mosiah 4:19

The part with "I love that you're never satisfied with face value wisdom and happy lies".... I dont think it means we're never satisfied with him... that we're never satisfied with flimsy, untrue religious ideals, that we're still searching for him because we dont give in that easily..

then "you take what they say and go back and cry, you're so close to me that you nearly died.." that would be listening to everyones lies, and crying because you know it just isnt true.. like when people say god doesnt exist, or that he's lost hope on humanity... you just have to believe it isnt true..

at least thats my take on it..
