this song changed my life...i whant to a combo camp called m-fuge and centri-fuge about a year ago and they sang this song...the sermon was about "leaving you baggage with Christ" and i whent down and got on my knees and prayed...and as i walked down the live band they had there started to play this song...i whent and got on my knees...i knew i had alot of baggage...and it was hard...just the simple fact of living was hard...i whent down alone...i was the first out of my entire youth group to go...by the time they sang the first chourous i was bawling...it was very emotional...and when they said "when this darkness breaks to light" i felt a hand on my back...i instinctivly looked back and saw two of my best friends there on either side of me and a couple of people comming down from my youth group too...when they sang "i will rise" for the last time i got up and walked back...knowing i had friends and basically a family that was my youth group that i had basically grew up with...as soon as it was over the entire combo camp broke down into their youth groups that had come for individual bible study...and that night we had a very moving talk...i told them about what was goin on at my house and i got to hear alot about my friends that i didnt know...at the end of that my youth minister asked us all to close our eyes...we all did...and he said that there were some that really need help...and that it wasnt bad nor greedy to ask for it...and that it wasnt weakness...it was actually showing that you know you cannot handle it on your own...and he asked anybody that felt as they needed help to come to the middle of the room and sit in a cicle...the people on either side of me urged me to go...i knew i needed it...but i wasnt sure...but i went...after everybody that wanted to go up there was up there...my youth pastor asked for anyone that wanted to come to the middle and place a hand on one person in particular and pray for them...it ended up that every one in my youth group ended up in the middle in a tight huddle...everyone was crying...arms were wrapped around each other and we were all praying for one another...at the very end of this we broke for the little free time that we hadnt used up and went to enjoy ourselves...i waited up on my friend and i got to witness her asking to be saved!...what an experience!...but the night after i found her crying and tried to figure out why...come to find out her best friend committed sucide...after word got around...my whole youth group AND some of the friends that we made there came and we did a prayer walk throught the prayer garden...then we were invited tocome have some pizza to cheer up everybody...but by the time we got there it was gone...haha...so we all walked around and talked and laughed...btw...im a 13 year old goin on 14 that lives in a super small town in mississippi...the combo camp was hosted in south carolina and the best friend is my neibhor...i have known her for years...she is 15...we are now starting a local teen bible study in our little town...this is just one of the many amazing stories that God has given me to pass on...he is too amazing to keep stories such as these hidden...im sorry for tacking up so much time and space...but this story just had to be told! |

i agree...and the lines "when i saw your blue eyes cry and held your face in my had" and "then she(SHE) whispered how 'how could you do this to me'" makes me wonder...is ij just his mother?...or just his "one sided break-up?"...i simply believe that is a combonation of both and mabey a little more...i can understand were this song comes from...and why it was wrtten...but i have to wonder...was it something that happened to his mother?...his gf/ex...or did he do something to himself that caused pain to either or both?... |

i dont apreciate ppl judging others by relogion...im a baptist, a strong christian and proud of it!!!!!!!...but you have to take in to concideration that christanity is not the only religion...we do not worship crosses...but the cross represents that Jesus died for our sins and is a reminder of the Gift that He has given us...i have been taught about many other religions and i do know that some worship idols...
this is a wonderful song and im hooked...i believe that it has very mixed meanings...it points to the issue with Christian and Gloria...but then again it has many lines that deal with war and forgiveness...and most of the song goes to bothe sides...like i said...i believe that it points to both of the issues and many issues that we do not reconize are in there....we could be missing the point of the song completely!...but i am finding some of my own assumptions and belief it the song, the meanings that some on here are stating, yet there are some things that ppl are saying on here that i just DO NOT BELIEVE! |

i agree...there was alot of thought put behind the words and the music video just put fuel to my fire...from the little research ive done with the few interviews with him i found out that it started off as a "forgive me" to his ex...but through the writing the song and everything else, there was added the "mom is gone" part...and the music video shpows the past events with him and his mom...goes though the childhood, ect....it even shows that him mom always supported him...it shows his mom taking a picture of him and his gf im assuming...this song just as alot of hidden meaning...keeps you thinking... |

to me i believe that this song has mixed meanings...after listening to the song several times and then watching the music video several times...i believe it started off as an apoligy song to his ex telling her that she was better off without him and he didnt want to hurt her...then they added the "mom is gone" part in there with the recording after they made the song...then they added the meaning that "mabey if im gone then it would just fix everything" as the music video shows...but also... at the very end of the music video it shows him having tes with his mom...but the song shows the mom saying "bye justin!" and it playing slower and slower showing that she is leaving and not comming back |
