| This song is pretty self explanitory, in my opinion. It's about the feeling that you need something, an addiction (such as smoking). But it can be applied to anything, a lover who you know is bad for you, a drug, an eating disprder, anything that you can't help but give in to. Great song, I'm really glad I stumbled upon it. | |

To me, this song is about the inevitable passing of time. It says so in the very first verse: "This is the clock upon the wall." And I think that the rest of the song is about someone who tried to get around that, the part about the government hiding things, or the bells that will never ring (the time will never pass). And someone who he knew who actually just lived their life while he was stuck in limbo. "Confess to me Every secret moment Every stolen promise you believed Confess to me All that lies between us All that lies between you and me" And he was safe because he never believed stolen promises, but now he's wondering if he had just lived his life what it would be like. A song about regret, in my opinion. |

I thought this song was written about beeding to be a "good celebrity" or what his PR people were always telling him, "They will tell you you can't sleep alone In a strange place Then they'll tell you you can't sleep With somebody else" And then just saying FUCK IT. I really like this song, just be true to yourself and let others do what they want :) |

best line: "Everyone's a little queer, why can't she be a little straight!" must be the most frustrating feeling ever :P |

Okay I just have a question. This song drives me crazy becuase of these lines: "But truth be told, I miss you And truth be told, I'm lying" Can anyone tell me, does this mean he's lying in the rest of the song, or is he lying about missing her? If anyone knows or understands what I'm saying... yeah it's driving me nuts lol. |

| Guster – Medicine Lyrics | 16 years ago |

I'm surprised no one has mentioned this- but to me it was what I initially assumed. I thought this song was about mental illness, or drugs that affect it. To me the phrase "handed down" as is heard in the lines: Into the maze Enter the medicine handed down Within these veins Bleeding with apathy till it drowns No more to gain Needing the ugliness that surrounds Return again Caught in the medicine handed down Also the phrase "Within these veins" which is also a drug usage refrence. I don't know, maybe that's only because I see mental illness handed down through generations... but I think it makes sense. And I think some of the other lines refrence someone trying to conquer an illness with medication, hence the refrences to medicine... Just my interpretation :) I'm sure it's about many things, that's the mark of good lyrics- they can be taken so many ways, fit so many peoples personal problems. |

| Guster – Happier Lyrics | 16 years ago |

I think that the most interesting part of this song is the part where they both sing: So go on, if this will make you happier It got you this far, do what you have to (Well you knew this would come) And you're gone now (And you've left me all alone) And did it make you happier? (And you're lost and long gone, don't take it so seriously) It wasn't that hard (Go on and get goin, I'm fine on my own) Did what you had to (We got you this far, finally got it figured out) To me it really shows that there are two sides to every decision, and that the person in the brackets (The person being left behind) is bitter and angry but trying to cover it up to... I think it really adds some depth to the song. And the "One more itch you son of a bitch" is really powerful too... Guster kicks some major ass. |
