| Avenged Sevenfold – Afterlife Lyrics

I honestly thought the meaning was pretty clear. The music video might be different, but they always are, they're usually never even written by the band. It in a way could be about someone OD'ing, but the references to a relationship makes it not seem that way, "I see a distant light, but girl this can't be right" and "Gave me your hand, but realized I just want to say goodbye". They could be symbolic, but still. It seems to me that it's about him having a girlfriend, who is described as a very good girlfriend obviously, but he is "too young" and touring all the time, so it's tough to be in a relationship. He probably also wants to live the rockstar lifestyle, and we all know what that is. He also says, "I'd hope you might take me back inside when the time is right", saying that she's probably the right person for him, but he wants to live the rockstar lifestyle first. The title 'Afterlife' kind of says it, after the main, young, exciting part of my life, also saying how it's the best part (if we're talking about heaven of course) and that you need to live and learn before you're serious. The whole OD thing works, but he probably was writing about what I described and used that story symbolically. |

i think this song is describing what it's like to die and go to hell, and then be raised from the dead, hence the name "Hellraiser". |

i would just like to say, "the night" is a biblical term for hell. I remember when i saw the title i thought, how creative! |

"Like a million before us WAITING TO DIE" wow there's a lot of mistakes, why don't you just read the lyrics from your lyric book? |

I'd say that the chorus is getting the point across that people turn to "The Night" (Bad behavior/darkness) because they don't feel welcome in normal conformities. "Are you gonna remain a slave for the rest of your life? Give into the night." as in those who feel like they are living for other's comfort and standards and not for themselves, they will basically be forced to go bad, and in a way it's not their fault, it's societies. |
