| Saliva – Always Lyrics | 9 years ago |

This song is about one of the band member's (Chris, I believe) sister, who was in an abusive relationship. She confided in her brother and, though he begged her repeatedly to leave him, she kept going back. She is no longer with the abuser and is now living a happy life; she isn't very fond of this song though. |

| Defeater – Empty Glass Lyrics | 10 years ago |

This song is about the older brother and how he met his wife. After his father's murder, the older brother turned to alcohol as a means of coping. As time went on and the older brother kept waiting for the younger brother to return, his alcoholism became worse. He felt the affect it was holding on his marriage, hence the line, "Your gut sinks each time you see her." He felt embarrassed and ashamed that he had fallen into such a state, but despite everything, he still drank. This is evident throughout the album, especially in the song 'White Oak Doors', where he is drinking in his father's chair and sets the glass down to answer the door. As a side note, the line "Put the sun into the sea" refers to the fact that the family lives in a port town (in other songs, one is able to determine that the older brother is a shipyard worker). The sun is "put into the sea" as he spends the evening drinking, so he is essentially wasting the hours when the sun is still up. |

This does for SFS what Tijuana vs Albuquerque did for AFESTSHCS. Simple chords equals awesome song. |

An absolutely captivating song. In my own personal opinion, it's about Dreyer keeping hope for his lover to return to him. Perhaps she had passed away, perhaps she had simply left; either way, he is mourning her departure, and is doing his best to cope with it. And yet, his memories still haunt him. They seep into every crevice in his mind, and consume him. It's not that he wants to forget her, it's that he can't, and he won't. He refuses to give up on his heart's captor. His hope will fight on. |

It's a leaving song. Basically, the narrator of the song is saying that although it may hurt to hear it, he's through with being dragged along in the relationship. He's finally past the breaking point. |

It's pretty straight-forward. The author is tired of being in a pointless relationship, and has decided to confront her (or him). The song was written well enough to avoid gender-related issues, too. Everything about this song has some significance, and is all seems to blend together in an "equilibrium". Overall, spectacular. |
