I really like this band and their music. Their first album was great. I try to listen to this and still like it a lot even though the style has changed a bit but I find I can't listen to it for more than 15 minutes at a time or I get pissed off at how ignorant the lyrics are. I know the first albums lyrics were about video games and laser tag and stuff but that didn't bother me at all. These lyrics about global warming and capitalism and free trade are just so ignorant and horribly wrong that it bothers me to listen which is a shame because I love the music. So I try to get through it best I can and just block out the lyrics. A couple of points: 1- Free Trade is nothing new and is one of the greatest things to ever happen. It has been scientifically proven to benefit all parties. In fact, the more "free" a country is the faster it has growth in average standard of living, rates of education, and civil rights for minority groups and women. In fact, breakdowns in free trade and protectionist policies are to blame for some of the greatest poverty on earth 2- Capitalism combined with individual property rights has spurred the greatest and fastest technological innovation period (the last couple centuries) the world has ever seen. Read "The 5,000 year leap" good book. 3- Global Warming.... Don't even get me started. Seriously kids, read a book, get some education. Its much better that repeating the latest controversial, "hip" thing that everyone should be pissed about and yet everyone is wrong about. That being said, my favorite new song is zonked. good stuff. Sorry I just get really angry when people say Free Trade is a bad thing. Its sooo ignorant that its offensive |

Agreed. This is the correct answer. Their original bassist (Smoogs) wrote this song. He also did the Deep vocals for (Reading super system in my mind what would Doyle Brunson do). Jase used to hold up the mic in front of his face while he played bass. He had to leave the band due to his compulsive gambling. He is featured doing guest vocals ont heir live dvd and did them again at their farewell show 9which will also be released as a dvd). DVD commentary explains all this. This line sums it up: "Back to the automatic dispenser of paper to I can dream again." Taking all of your money out of an ATM to chase the big pot. |

Actually, this one is pretty easy and I guarantee you I am 100% right.... This song was co-written with their former manager (and good friend). He was struggling with Depression (haunting disease). He stopped representing the band because of his battle with depression. Int heir live DVD he does guest vocals for the song (the chorus part). Further I attended their farewell show and he was there again and they also creditted him with writing it. Also, if you listen to the bonus material ont heir live dvd they explain this as well as Texas Dolly, for which their original bassist (Smoogs) wrote and does guest vocals for as well. He had to leave the band because he has compulsive gambling issues. Awesome guy though. He stage dove onto me at the farewell show haha. |
