Red – Pieces Lyrics 15 years ago
I saw them in Nashville not long ago and Michael said when he wrote this song he was thinking about the bad decisions he's made since he accepted Christ and how he gets so down on himself when he makes those choices but then knows in his heart that no matter how far we stray from God and how broken we may seem that we are never too broken for God to put back together and how this world or the things in this world aren't made to make us feel whole because no matter how many fans or how much fame he receives he still gets depressed when he sees some of the negative things and actions on tours and at shows but he says he prays for each person in the audience before every show.

"This song is about our Savior, Healer, Father, The King of Kings, Lord of Lords, God, and only God. Because out of all the things this world can give us; at some point or another we will be disappointed by those worldly things, but God never disappoints and he is the only person that can truly make us whole."

The Showdown – Laid To Rest Lyrics 15 years ago
The song is about a man who has lived his life for God and has served God for so many years (whether it be through real warfare or spiritual warfare) and now that he is at the end of his long life his body shows signs of the struggle he has endured (What was left? A skin naught but scars life spent waging a war for a King he'd yet to see). But then it talks about him finally passing on to Heaven after so long and being with his King (How sweet now his rest, clothed in splendor and joy in the presence of God how he sings).

Great song! I live in their hometown and they play this live all the time here. I actually went to high school with these guys and their uncle owns a garage right down the road from me, him and my dad are like best friends.

They're great on CD but they're even better live.

Breaking Benjamin – Anthem Of The Angels Lyrics 15 years ago
The song is coming from the viewpoint of a friend who is watching another friend dieing in a hospital bed, and this guy knows that his friend doesn't have long to live but he still stands by his side until he's gone.

The whole album has a single plot which is a guy surrounded by others in a hospital room dieing from brain cancer (which explains the album cover) but each song comes from the viewpoint of each person in the hospital room. Whether it be a friend, a family member, a lover, a two faced friend, or even the guy who is passing away. "Anthem of the Angels" is from a friend, "What Lies Beneath" is either from an enemy, an ex, or even a two faced friend perhaps, and of course "Dear Agony" and "Into the Nothing" is coming from the guy who is passing away.
