I agree it's about the US. I think it's also about the broken illusion of the promise the country holds. The fact that people are paying the price for the country, whether by financial and/or physical ruin - the words "conquering the world, and even more, heaven's door" - suggests that the nation has taken the place of a utopia.
Kind of an ominous foretelling of what would happen with the country.... |
