Band of Horses – The Funeral Lyrics 15 years ago
I really think the line "And to know you is hard" defines a lot of the song. It make me feel like maybe he still admires the person he's "holding down", and their "love" (or friendship) used to be so amazing, but it's on the verge of dying. I think the "funeral" is referring to the death of their relationship, or their feelings for each other, and not an actual person.

The chorus, then, is simply about how he knows that, at any point, they're going to say something that'll be the last straw, and they'll part ways.

The "I'm coming up..." stanzas are pretty straight-forward. He might be depressed, and the only thing he really wants to do is just make sure the other person is as miserable as he is. Then it leads into the chorus, like "I can't believe we've got this way" or something.

"It's really too late to call," obviously, means it's too late to apologize and start over.

"To know me as hardly golden is to know me all wrong" is also pretty simple. He's only been an asshole, something not good, barely golden, but that's not who he really is. The person he's addressing in this song wouldn't know that, though, because he's been nothing but an asshole to him/her.

It doesn't necessarily have to be romantic. It might be a simple friendship. Either way, this is a really touching and relatable song. I'm a little embarassed to admit I only know of this song because of the show "My life as Liz" that came on MTV.

Sorry if this is scattered and repetetive. I had to rush through it during my lunch period. Enjoy (:

This sounds like a pretty straight-forward song. Society is doing everything wrong, and will eventually fall apart. I think this song is just saying that people need to straighten out before things go to hell. Sorry if this was a little vague.

Counting Crows – Colorblind Lyrics 15 years ago
I don't think this song is about race or love at all. He sounds like he feels blank. He doesn't have very strong, if any, emotion. That connects directly to the metaphor of being colorblind.

"I am covered my skin
no one gets to come in"

That sounds like he's everyone out.

I think this sound is just about feeling numb to everything. The last line, "I am fine," might mean that he's not in pain, either. I don't know, it's just how this song struck me. I was really surprised to see that no one else picked this up.

The Spill Canvas – Bracelets Lyrics 15 years ago
I noticed the line that says "In this dream I had", and that kind of makes me think that he only wishes that people couldn't kill heroes. Maybe in actuality (if this is based on something that happened in his life), the "heroes" were defeated.

I'm not really positive, but I think my sister said the composer wrote this song when his girlfriend committed suicide. Don't quote me on this, cuz that was a while ago, and my sister might have been misinformed, but it's something to think about. It would give a reason for the religious references in the song, and it certainly fits the tone of the song.

(I <3 this song so much. It helped me get over a really tough breakup. :D)
