I'm going to go ahead and give you some closure. She was an easy, wishy-washy roommate who only wanted you because she couldn't have you. She laughed in your face when you told her you loved her but that wasn't enough. Right before you left with the closure of knowing that she didn't want you, she decided to curse you by changing her mind and letting you know. She tried successfully to poison your marriage. I know what it's like, man. We all those thoughts of what could have been. But it's important to understand that your mind tends to forget all the hell they put you through. It forgets what it felt like when they hurt you. You are unhappy with your life and you are using her as a beacon of potential happiness when really it's not about some skank who broke your heart 20 years ago. She wouldn't have made you happy then, and she wouldn't make you happy now. |

| Protest the Hero – Limb From Limb Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| Flidias is a Irish goddess of the forests. Animals adored her. But basically she would use music to lure people down to a lake in the forest and they would never be seen again. That's ALL I can figure out about this song. Protest the Hero's songs seem to have a lot of mythology in them, which makes for a very epic (as in, actually epic, not like "3P1C W1N!!!1" epic) listening experience, but it also makes it very difficult to decipher the song meanings. | |

What a video! Probably the creepiest, and yet, most awesome video I've ever seen. This song, to me, seems pretty apocalyptic. He's practically begging for humanity to be "reset". |

| Audioslave – Like a Stone Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| Seems to be about a man asking God to take him into Heaven after he dies. He's like, realizing that God exists and trying to build faith in Him. | |

At first I thought it was about a man asking God to help him in life, but when I read Forthelove's comment, it hit me. This song is about Jesus' life. Normally it annoys me when people try to link every other song to religion, but this one, to me, was undeniable. Just for the record, this is what I think, and may or may not be correct. If you disagree, more power to ya. The music video, if you've seen it, portrays this pretty much perfectly. The cops were the Romans and the others who wanted Jesus dead. Jesus must evade them while he gets the people to learn about him and build faith and hope for him, which is the band outrunning the cops. The concert is him preaching to the various people, and they are all worshipping. When they stop in the desert, that is Jesus coming to terms with what has to happen, which is sacrifice himself. Then, at the end, after the concert (Jesus preaching and giving everyone faith) they drive straight into the bulldozers and kill themselves in a blaze of glory (Jesus letting the Romans take him and crucify him so he could be a martyr). I guess it could be said the the other band members were the disciples but that is probably pushing it. Here's a breakdown of the song: "And with the early dawn Moving right along Couldn't buy an eye full of sleep And in the aching nights under satellites" (Seems to be about how he has a purpose he is trying to fulfill.) "I was not received Built with stolen parts" (It's saying he's not completely human, the "stolen parts" being God's will and spirit.) "Telephone in my heart" (He's connected directly to God and is contacted by Him.) "Someone get me a priest To put my mind to bed" (He needs help from God to keep him focused on his mission... this was a stretch though.) "This ringing in my head Is this a cure or is this a disease?" (It's hard for him to listen to God and sacrifice himself because there's a human side to him, after all.) "Nail in my hand From my creator You gave me life Now show me how to live" (He's saying how God created him to be sacrificed and he's asking Him to show him what his purpose is.) "And in the afterbirth On the quiet earth Let the stains remind you You thought you made a man You better think again Before my role defines you" (About how he resurrected and showed everyone the he wasn't an ordinary human and that all his preachings were true, so they should find/keep faith in God.) "And in your waiting hands I will land And roll out of my skin And in your final hours I will stand Ready to begin Ready to begin Ready to begin Ready to begin" (He's saying that when he dies he is going to Heaven to be with God but he knows he must sacrifice himself first but he's ready to die for his faith.) So yeah. That's my take on the song. I never really heard of Chris Cornell until Audioslave, as I was a big RAtM fan, but I've been really getting into his music and the man seems like a genius. All of his songs have incredible lyrics. Take what you will from my attempt at deciphering the song, and let's hope more bands as talented as Audioslave come out. Have a good day and whatnot. Hah. |
