The lighting sound in the beginning is not a bong. I would guess it to be him heating up the spoon to dissolve heroin. Or it may be one of their dark, cynical jokes and be imitating the sound of heating the spoon so people will think it is heroin. He has a very dark humor abot his using. It's often trying to be sarcastic about it; a way of denying the use that tabloids and rumors accused him of. Sadly, they seem to be pretty accurate for once. |

He's talking about the drug cyclobenzaprine. It's a nice muscle relaxer commonly referrred to as "cyclones" the "coma-overdose and I'm in the zone" lyric supports this as well |

He did say that quote in the Nona tapes i think but he said some other stuff on there that was kinda just joking like they asked him "whats on the new record?" He said "well songs. and these are actually new too! Like we came up with new music and notes and stuff" It was to that effect at least. |

Layne wasn't really bullied as a kid that anyone's ever really heard about and he talked about a lot of bad stuff so idk why he'd leave that out. His mom said that he was used almost like a dog in a dogfight that he would be pressured to fight these other kids, but said that he was actually very proud cuz' he could take down these huge guys and he was tiny. |

Their songs are open to any interpretation you like. However they were only written for one purpose. This is Staley's struggle "in a nutshell".
Misprinteed lies= medias lies about how he was nothing but a junkie
And yet i fight this battle all alone- he fights the addiction with no one to help him
My gift of self is raped- The music companies and media just want to use his gift of self for personal gain
My privacy is raked- straightforward, the reporters mess up his privacy and everyone is minding his "beeswax"
And yet i find repeating in my head if i cant be my own I'd feel better dead.- Most powerful lyric i think ive ever heard. This defines his struggle. He's saying if he isnt strong enough to live on his own away namely from heroin, he would rather be dead. I believe that this gives us reason to look at his death as a positive thing for him. Not for us. It ended his struggle and horrible pain and gave him peace. RIP Layne |
