I think this song could go two ways. it could be about a guy who is dreaming about love from his girlfriend or he is dreaming that the girl he likes and has his eye on, will finally see him as something and go out with him. He knows there is no shot in this life, that he will be able to get his girlfriend to love him, or that girl to like him. so he's giving up, knowing that the girl is too good to be true for him. She's like a dream. So he's telling himself to wake up (come to reality) and accept that what he wants will never happen, because now he's wide awake. |

The boy in the good friendship with a girl, saw that the girl liked him, but she never told him "My blood bleeds red For all those thoughts you left unsaid" And he mentions how he shouldn't have intruded on their friendship, because he messed it up, leaving him in pain and grief. "Well how could you let your guard down And let me impose I'm dying the further this thing goes" He wishes that the relationship never would have started (perhaps because it ruined a great friendship) "Well can we go back to where we were before You dropped your heart on my floor Cause it was easiest to hide it all away And never say what we were thinking No you'd never catch me blinking that night Cause I was all of yours" He figured out the relationship was a bad idea in her mind, and she just says they became too late, but he doesn't believe that's all that happened. "But don't say we became too late Well I just think you're humoring yourself" Before they officially part he wants to tell her how he's right, and that they could have made it. He wants this news to her to make her "precious sky" fall down, meaning she would be devastated at reality. "Let me say one more thing before you fly And this charade is out of sight I've been wrong but now I'm right So let your precious sky come down on you tonight" He's trying to tell her how they still have a chance, and he's trying to win her over with attempts he's already made "with every useless key i tried" but she is shutting him out, scared of what would happen if they did get back together, and he can see her starting to wonder if what he's saying is true. "I'm right outside With every useless key I've tried You're seamlessly wrapped in secrets Unraveling now But you don't know just why or how" He's regreting beginning the relationship, because he still wants the girl. but for the girl it's all or nothing. they ruined the friendship once they starting their relationship, which failed. leaving them nothing anymore. But he wants to be her friend at least, so he just wants to go back to how they used to be. "can we go back to where we were before You left your heart on my door Cause it was easiest to hide it all away we never say what we were thinking you never catch me blinking those nights cause I was all of yours" He wants to let her know, before they part, that he wishes everything would turn out alright.
