i think this song is about that feeling you get rigth after your heart gets shattered in a million pieces . you just fill like there 's this huge hole in side of you that will never be able to be healed again . it 's the type of wound that even the emergency room can 't fix . it 's about trying to move on even with a broken heart that feels like it will ne heal .
the part " loose your clothes and show your scars that 's who you are " symbolizes to me that we are sometimes defined by these scars . not the clothes that we wear or anything else ; sometimes we 're defined by our broken heart .

well this partially from personal eperience added to the lyrics, but i think this song is about a girl who falls in love with a guy she knows she really shouldn't. she knows deep down that he's a player and has more than one girl in his life, but is blinded by this love she has for him. whenever she's with him she feels like the most important person in his life, but when they're apart that sense of abandonment sets in and she longs to be the one he really wants. the line "my self worth measured in text back tempo, / it's been 2 days and 8 minutes too slow." really shows how she is always left waiting for him.
this song is absolutely beautiful, and really helped me realize what was happening in my own relationship. i don't know where i'd be, or how long i'd be waiting without it; it really helped me move on. thanks immi (:
