The song's sung from an adult, third person's perspective, . He's singing about a child growing up and reflects on its decision making process. First stanza, he observes the child's careless actions, but everything is okay because he's young and adored; meanwhile speaker envies this freedom. Chorus- But he must learn to control himself because his actions will have consequences. "haunted" and "trees"- bad results growing from poor decisions. Last stanza, speaker sees how special a birth is, but quickly he grows wary of its interaction with the world. He emphasizes "decisions" and though he says ''it wouldn't hurt", it turns out it is emotionally attached to the whole ordeal- perhaps because he is doubting his past decisions and wishes the new life to do better when it grows up. |

| Hit the Lights – Pulse Lyrics | 15 years ago |

This song might be about a guy has sexual urges for a friend who's a girl, but knows it's just lust and pleads to be restrained. first 2 verses But he finds that he's having these strong feelings for his friend as well and he's falling apart from not knowing what to doing with these emotions. I got these scars with a promise to keep and it shows But with this feeling I'll take it to wherever it goes and It's all alright if we just take turns on taking it slow and if it's love, we can speed it up whenever we know here we learn that he might've had a relationship with the girl already and it ended really horribly (maybe the reason why "he can't keep up") with the girl saying "i only want to be friends with you", but this time he thinks he really does have real feelings for her again and he's willing to stay friends and take it slowly. but his pulse is raging when he's with her lol |

| Saosin – It's So Simple Lyrics | 15 years ago |

penguin262 did a fantastic job interpreting verse by verse. i love it when people do that. the one part and a big part i didn't really understand in his/her explanation are the chorus lines: it's so simple to be afraid. it's so simple when you know who you are. i'm reading it right now as: if you know who you really are, the anxiety that comes at the beginning of a new relationship with someone should be pretty simple and natural. versus when you're putting on a new self, your fears are more complicated and it will feel that way emotionally. and this song's trying to tell us to stick to your own skin even though it may seem difficult when you want someone to like you, because the other option will become so much more complicated and detrimental. |

| Saosin – The Alarming Sound Of A Still Small Voice Lyrics | 15 years ago |

This song is so pleasing to my ears. The bass notes and the electric guitar really help out with the confusion theme of the song. I'm not a religious person at all, so when i first bunch of times i listened to the lyrics, i thought it was about integrating oneself into a new setting and figuring out how to fit in and still be an individual. so i interpreted the chorus as a self-confrontation since sleep is something one deals with on their own. i love the symbolism of sleep: ignorance, denial, self induced escape from reality. i can definitely relate. ...but of course i forgot about the whole mormon thing and now everything really makes sense and the person cove is talking to is more obvious. |

The Used isn't my favorite band, but I like them a lot for their concept and sound in general. Honestly, if the story about Bert's killing a guy for self defense is completely true, i can't help but think that this song just exaggerates the situation. Come on, he killed, but only because he was being threatened. The song suggests that he has some kinda weird tendency to get really violent when no one he knows is watching and is trying not be provoked... Basically, WAY TOO METAL. A genre whose songs that unfortunately craves too much attention for being "badass". Come on, what happened to the honest and modest nature of this epitome of emo music? Nonetheless, i still crave more of the sound and energy of this song, so i'll search around their album for the goodies. |

| it only sounds inspired by a vampire/werewolf because you're looking too hard for things to remind you of them. i can't help but think people who think every evil and confusing thing is a vampire or werewolf are just... stupid. | |
| Saosin – Fireflies (Light Messengers) Lyrics | 15 years ago |

I thought xMosc was pretty good with the first part but i think he/she missed the last part though. And all you do, and all you say washes away, away with the rain. And all you thought would never change, (how could I let you go?) washes away, it'll never be the same. (how could I have changed?) Wish I could love you. And I don't regret the rain. Now that I'm sinking. I would just say goodbye. he is definitely talking about a particular person who gave up on him saying his bad habits (probably caused the separation between them) would never be changed. All these complaints by nature can't stick to him and disappears pretty soon actually, but he is indignant because he contemplates in agony asking "how can I ever change?" maybe because he is abandoned by the person who once loved him, but gave up and left. With so many things going badly, he is really depressed, but then accepts these things by "saying goodbye" to lingering in the past and "doesn't regret the rain", but keeps believing in a better future symbolized by fireflies, messengers of hope and light to get him out of the darkness little by little. the music is very uplifting and the lyrics, if you analyze them and listen carefully, do the same thing as well. his voice is so beautiful and it really keeps me going at this moment when i feel there's things about me i can't change and i can't seem to move on. this song gives me that finishing push. |

| Brand New – Okay I Believe You, but My Tommy Gun Don't Lyrics | 15 years ago |

haha, this comment is for everyone who's having trouble reading the lyrics and has also make a sarcastic remark sometime in their life. notice whenever jesse starts a line with "Oh", it means he is DEFINITELY being extra sarcastic and super mocking egotistic rock stars. my favorite one is: "Oh, my tongue's the only muscle on my body that works harder than my heart" and also "Oh it hurts to always have to be honest with the one that you love" and dammit i was about to put another one; the lines are really just too funny and amazing. |

haha i think you have the wrong idea. the song consists of sarcasm, but the irony that comes with it is for mocking the big ego rock stars (whether they really do sing well or not). you favorite line is one of my favorite lines too, but it's so hard to figure out whether he's being sarcastic there about rock stars knowing "their destiny" and that kinda bs, or really being honest about himself, knowing that he doesn't know where he'll end up (as implied by other songs in the album like quiet things...) that's what i believe, correct me if i'm wrong. god, i love brand new so much, it's so hard to find bands like this one nowadays (hearing to k(insert stupidass dollar sign here)sha on the radio really put me in a bad mood. it's funny because it's usually the songs i don't understand and sound that good (even though it should) that eventually become my very favorites that stay, unlike songs that are all about sounding good with lyrics easily rolling off the tongue. |

| Cute Is What We Aim For – Marriage To Millions Lyrics | 15 years ago |

damn, i more i read ciwwaf's lyrics, the more i think shaant has quite an ego and the lyrics are actually kinda ridiculous. Well, first of all, he keeps everything we give to him in a security box and claims to have a king's amount of it, whether it be love or money (probably the latter), joking that Queen Street was a sign, and he seems to be pretty happy about it "my main man". The chorus is about the proverb we all know, shouted and louder than the next lyric, which i seemed to ALWAYS miss and not realize how stupid it really is. he thinks the opposite, meaning money CAN buy happiness, but then the next lines are if he had a one RARE chance (he's saying it's not that rare earlier) to buy happiness, he'd buy romance. contradictory thoughts about money and happiness. Then he talks about being in a strange city and feeling like nobody knows him and he is not famous/rich and he's unhappy being anonymous. He talks about how he wants to be in a deep emotional relationship with a girl, unhappily drowning himself in those thoughts. the chorus seems to me like some kind of motivation for him, and when he's lonely and unknown, he wants romance. so the next verse, he's renewed with hope of that romance and he loves the city now. but then again, at the very end, he's still drowning in the city lights (in a bad way). what a great way to end this. what does this song advocate? 1) if you have money, you can buy happiness (romance, if you like) 2) when you're lonely and depressed, be extremely happy and hopeful again with 1) by earning some money! 3) you can buy serious emotional romances with money 4) we should give them more money so that he can pursue all of those! it's ironic to me because whenever i listen to the song carelessly, like most people do apparently, i usually hear and remember "money can't buy happiness", "i wanna know _____ about you" and "is anybody out there?" and i seem to think the song implies good morals and sung by someone who's sincere about love, even though it really shows the opposite. and it's not the really the kind of thing you want to be wrong about :/ thanks for clarification!? |

| Band of Horses – Ode to LRC Lyrics | 15 years ago |

i usually interpret this song two different ways, depending on the mood that i'm in. when i'm feeling cynical, the line "the world's such a wonderful place" sounds really sarcastic such that he's really unhappy about all the boring repetitive things (birthday sex and sleep) happening in a trapped "smalled town". seems like he wants to get out. then sometimes i'm cheerful and i find that he's appreciating all the wonderful little things that go on in such a small town. nobody ignores anyone (how could anyone not look me in the eyes- a very personal glance), and everybody knows what the whole town's about. seems everyone is preoccupied so there aren't any horrible crimes like murder unlike in the big cities. what do u guys think about these two? also i love the lines "A hundred stories sitting there to read, I got my focals out, I put them on". focals sounds like it's an inside joke/name for glasses back from wherever he's from. |

ahhh, great lyrics, great singer, great metaphor, great creativity. which is usually why i actually take the time to type this about such a worthy song. i love how clever lacey is with comparing the sin of fornication and greed; i thought it was too good to be true when she said at the beginning "it's like being in love". just using the word at the very beginning usually implies that it's not what the song's about. it's the art of mystery and intrigue. which is also reason why misinterpretation happens, yet she interrupts soon enough at 1:15 and it's explained. that was a very nice choice, because if you weren't paying attention, you wouldn't hear / include that in your interpretation of the song. i used to be a noob at understanding lyrics, and mostly i just admitted to myself i was confused. yet from reading posts, i can tell people are sometimes too sure of themselves and stick to the INTERPRETATION BASED ON A HANDFUL OF LYRICS. DON'T EVER DO THAT. IT'S LIKE QUOTING THE FIRST PART OF A PROVERB, IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN. |

| Bullet for My Valentine – My Fist, Your Mouth, Her Scars Lyrics | 15 years ago |

this song definitely is about a situation where some other person hurt the person he loved "her scars" most likely both emotional and physical "bleeding through my head, MY HEART, my EYES). and now the bridge tells us how much he hates that offender "with every ounce of anger, in turn we know you're going down". then the chorus tells us that the offender has been brutally beaten "your crimson (blood) flowing down, like water" and next he reflect on whether he had "gone too far" as he "stumbles down". also when he says "we know you're going down", i don't think he did the beaten in group, but that his audience by now should know what his next action would be. amazing lyrics to me personally, enough ambiguity (fuck =/= sex all the time), relatable, awesomely brutal + in your face emotions. fav part of the song is the bridge, heavy tension and of course guitar solo :) |
