Passion Pit – To Kingdom Come Lyrics 11 years ago
I think this song is about recovering from people who have wronged you. I think the message is forgiveness is hard, and getting lost in nostalgia over this relationship is easy to do. But the best way to be happy is to forgive, and wish the best for people. I like interpreting lyrics, so the lines with the * are the lyrics and anything with the [] is my interpretation.

*That's a frosty way to speak...
[Meaning, that's a cruel way to talk to someone you were once close to]

*To tell me how to live next to your potpourri...
[Meaning, you don't like this person because they don't live in the same style, or believe in the same things as you]

*All this talking pulls my teeth...
[backstabbing and fighting are hurtful, and I don't want to continue]

*I believed in you, so you believed in Me,
[I consider us equals, I cared about you without strings attached, but you only gave to me when I was giving to you]

*I cried out, "God", you dared me in the dark
[I try to take the high road when you hurt me, but I'm only human, and return negative energy when I let this get to me]

*I felt a hush fall quiet from my spark
[You don't want my light and positive energy near you, like dampening my light]

*So now I hide in piles of princely orange peels
[Because of how you feel towards me, I pretend to be something I'm not when I'm around you]

*It feels the way you told me how it'd always feel
[this negativity is in your desires, for some reason, you enjoy the feelings of negativity, where I don't]

*Once I had a name to claim
[In the past there was a label in our relationship-friends, bf/gf, ect.]

*I scraped on the walls like an orthodox saint
[I'm learning to take my pain out in positive ways]

*I wish for the same old things
[despite finding positive feelings through this scenario, I still feel nostalgic]

*You turn me inside out, keeling in such pain, it's a game
[It's easy to get wrapped up in the times you hurt me deeply, and treated out friendship like a game]

(Chorus)

*Never have I ever been...
*Clutching at your hair to cure you of some sin
[I've never wanted to hurt you in the past, but I don't understand why you continue to push your low frequencies onto me]

*But that's the kind of state I'm in
*Swimming in a pool of godly medicine
[now that I've chosen to forgive you, my feelings are protected in a pool of light]

*"Come, come," I hear it calling me out
[Finding high frequencies are not hard if you seek them]

*and now if there was ever someone
*Who could make things heavenly again
[you can't rely on others to make you happy, happiness doesn't come from others giving it to you, it comes from you creating it yourself]

*Feel alive
[You are truly one with the universe, when you're in a state of forgiveness and gratitude.]

Chorus 2x

Modest Mouse – Dramamine Lyrics 15 years ago
Dramamine is a motion-sickness drug, it's over the counter, but if you take enough it'll seriously fuck you up.
I know because I took it. This song is partly about how it makes you feel.

"Feeling spaced, breathing out Listerine, I'd said what I'd said that I'd tell you,"
"I've said what I'd said and you know what I mean, But I still can't focus on anything,"
and "Look at your face like you're killed in a dream, And you think you've figured out everything, I think I know my geometry pretty damn well," are all describing what a dramamine high is like. It's kinda weird because you're constantly forgetting about what you're doing and where you are. You have no sebelum or equilibrium whatsoever.

Because of my dramamine experience, this song had nothing to do with a relationship with a girl at all, when I took dramamine I ended up O.D.ing and I had a seizure. I ended up in the phyc ward and rehab; my family is still recovering from what happened. So in my opinion, the song is about how drugs can tear you from your family and yourself.

"I'd said what I'd said that I'd tell you, And that you'd killed the better part of me, If you could just milk it for everything," is saying how dramamine took the good part of him and all thats left is addiction and now he's feinding for his fix.

"We kiss on the mouth but still cough down our sleeves," is a metaphor for how he tells people he'll quit but turns around and does it again.

"And you think you've figured out everything, I think I know my geometry pretty damn well," means the people who want him to quit think they know what he's going through but he doesn't feel like they know jack. He says he 'knows his geometry' meaning he isn't stupid, he knows what's going to happen and where he'll end up if he keeps doing drugs.

I'm not for or against drugs I just have a relationship wit this song and that's what I believe it means.

Dramamine is a motion sickness drug, but when if you take enough, you basically trip balls. I know because I did it. Part of this song is explaining how it feels to be on dramamine. "Traveling, swallowing Dramamine Feeling spaced, breathing out Listerine I'd said what I'd said that I'd tell you..." and "I've said what I'd said and you know what I mean, But I still can't focus on anything..." is talking about how when you're on dramamine you can't remember anything you're doing you have no equilibrium or sebelum whatsoever, it gets you really fucked up.
My personal experience with dramamine was an O.D. and I ended up having a seizure and going to a mental hospital and rehab after. My family is still recovering, to me, the rest of the song is about how dramamine and other drugs screw up your life and take things away from you that you can't get back; but even still, you can't stop or quit.
