| I think that this song is definitely about teenage suicide, and not overcoming it.I think this song is supposed to remind you that when you take your own life, people are going to miss you, no matter what you think, and committing suicide isn't the right answer to your problems with life. Also, I think it tells you that you'll miss what you have, but not imposing any, mention of the presence or absence of any afterlife, but this song just says that it's worth it to live. | |

My personal belief, is that this song is about being miserable all the f*in time, and hiding it. "I may look happy, but honestly dear, the only way i'll really smile is if you cut me ear to ear..." I feel like this is basically about hating your life, and how no-one ever really knows. "It sits in silence; eats away at me..." Also... "We all carry these things inside that no one else can see. They hold us down like anchors, they drown us out at sea. I look up to the sky, they may be nothing there to see." I feel like this is the age old phrase that the foolish say "If god exists, why is there so much suffering?" The singer seems like he questions god and his beliefs, whatever they may be/may have been. SUMMARY: It's about feeling like shit in every way, and caring enough to make yourself seem happy. |
