Well to me this song sounds like me when I get insecure in a relationship. Maybe this is just me being a teenager but this is how it strikes me: I feel like the opening the "great truth" is that he loves this person(i'm going to say girl because it'll just flow better and such.) And his place is being with her. Though he is insecure about the relationship and that could be cluttering space in his mind and casting a shadow on his face. He has the strength to move hills could be all his potential energy but he isn't using it because he is just staying in his room all the time just being depressed and insecure. Just sitting there until that right song comes on and his mind is just elsewhere. (kinda connecting with this part, sort of how I found this song.) And the chorus: He could be referring to these bits of insecurity as these slips and stumbles and everything. They are slips in character and trusting her and just being happy. And when he is asking her to wait for him he is referring to waiting for his insecurities to pass and to wait for him to be okay and trust her kind of stuff. He feels he is just passing through places because all he can think about is his doubts and insecurities. He could be dreaming of things just being good and he wakes up just feeling bad that things aren't good and just wants to dream of them being good. Kind of my idea on the song. Might not be too uplifting but it's what I got from the song. |

A.) Amazing song and I can't stop listening to it. B.) I don't have much of an interpretation to this song, but I think it has something to do with being guarded with your feelings with the chorus saying "'Cause my heart is my keep" and when the singer says "And you are threatening me" is kinda saying that this girl, I would guess, is threatening these guarded feelings because they are finding some attraction to that person. Kind of like that crazy chaotic mess of feelings you get when you first get a crush on someone. More evidence of this being someone they really like is saying how long they've been waiting for them. I dunno. Those are some of my thoughts. Please someone post something better than this. |

| Whenever I hear the song and the chorus and the line broken hearts tessellate tonight. I think it's about people with broken hearts coming together and their past heart break helps sorta fit them together and make them right for eachother. Kind of a message of how every heartbreak gets you closer to the one. Also I like the part about running barefoot in the night. Kinda makes me think of the spontaneous whimsy of a new relationship. | |

Well I see it as a song about losing a girl. I'm not sure on the title "always running out of time" but it could refer to time with a girl or time to improve ones life. Like the opening line "I won't tell you how to live your life, So please stay far away from mine" She is telling him what to do and he is like I don't tell you how to live your life so don't tell me how. Then the chorus "I have to know If you'll float away with me The faster I go The further away it seems you get Are we floating nowhere yet" He's wants to know if they can go somewhere, either somewhere actual or just mental or emotional such as love and those kind of emotions. But he feels the faster he goes the farther she seems to become so I feel that supports the love thing. And the last part "With all of me white And all of her red I should have stayed But I lost my head With all of our rhymes Divorcing themselves I should have stayed But I lost my head I should have stayed But I lost myself" The two of them are opposites. Now the red and white could be referencing Alice and Wonderland, but I'm not familiar with those stories. But in the sense were this song is about a couple, I would say maybe red could represent warmth and compassion while the white could represent cold and lack of emotion. Which could have caused him to distance himself from the relationship or cheat on her or just something of that sort. Which in turn caused him to lose himself and his head, metaphorically I would hope. |

| Well in my opinion for the stay away portions of the song is: that it is about two lovers who are approaching what seems to be an end. The singer sees this and tells her to stay away because if she stays away then she can't break up with him and they can stay together just a little bit longer at least. | |
