The whole song's about his mom, and how she was a "factory girl" she never had much money, but lived her life and enjoyed it. This is told as her looking back at her youth after being old. She has nothing left but to sleep, and she thinks back to singing with her friends. The last verse is about his father, he stole her heart, but she stole his crown (last name King), but he passed away many years ago and she misses him dearly. |

seems pretty obvious to me, this guy is best friends with a girl and falls for her. He spends all his time with her and thinks she shares his feelings. She doesn't share his feelings, and he's heartbroken and even though they're best friends he can't keep spending time with her and cuts her out of his life. The second verse is about him getting her out of her life, and it makes her sad but he rationalizes it saying she has other friends, and if they ever really were best friends they wouldn't be in this situation. |
