I love this song, because I love old ballads in general. This song is sad though, it's beautiful but so sad. Reminds me of the other ballads about no good sailors and poor maids. =( |

| Love it! Makes me sad though. :( Her brother was a douche... | |
| Lady GaGa – Paparazzi Lyrics | 15 years ago |

I love that this song can have multiple meanings if you really look at it. On one hand it could be the very self-explanatory "paparazzi trying to make money off celebrities" bit. On the other hand it could be from the POV of the celebrities who are "media-whores" so to say. But then there's this kind of satirical way of describing an obsessed fan or girl in general. Love it. |

This sounds bipolar to me. :) "Do I need you? yes and no" Sounds very bipolar. A very dysfunctional relationship in which both partners are damaged in some way. I'm not for you You're not for me I'll kill you first You wait and see The killing part is not literal, but more of a "I'll hurt you first" thing. Out of the two of them, she's the more screwed up. Thats how I see it. |

| Love this song. Its so beautiful. I don't get depressing thoughts listening to it though, but it is haunting. | |

I agree with these opinions about the meaning of the song. The singer/narrator could be a persona of a cold, mean woman who treats men bad, i.e. the role reversal that Jemmargh is talking about, becuase usually its the other way around. It's definantly a satirical song with heavy sarcasm. I personally love the dramatics, I mean isn't that trademark what Emilie Autumn? Plus the ragtime/burlesque sound of it is to die for. :) |

| Flyleaf – Again (Album version) Lyrics | 15 years ago |

I agree with what the majority of people here have said; that this is God's POV. My interpretaion in a nutshell: "I love the way that your heart breaks With every injustice and deadly fates Praying it all will be new And living like it all depends on you" -God's love for humanity and their empathy when bad things occur, esp. to others. Wanting to help and then deciding it's all up to you, maybe rejecting a higher power but God still loves us. "Here you are down on your knees again Trying to find air to breathe again And only surrender will help you now I love you, please see and believe again" - We will turn to God in our worst times. Surrender means accept that you're not the ultimate power in the world. God wants us to regain our faith. "I love that you're never satisfied With face-value wisdom and happy lies You take what they say and go back and cry You're so close to me that you nearly died" - Our freewill to choose what to believe. In death we are with God, so being so close to Him is like death. And then the line that intrigues me: "The flood gates are breaking, they're pouring out" Anyone else notice that floodgates are mentioned in their other song, Bittersweet? It goes: "The pent up flood gates maintained in your tone" Is this intentional? I don't know, hmm...it's interesting. I wonder what it means. |

Great song. One thing that interested me was the line "The pent up flood gates maintained in your tone" In their other song Again, one part mentions floodgates too. "The floodgates are breaking and pouring out". Hmm, anyone know if thats coincidence or intentional? Do floodgates have meaning? |

| Flyleaf – Beautiful Bride Lyrics | 15 years ago |

"Strengthen your arms now Train your fingers for battle Urgency's here now Train your fingers for battle" I'm pretty sure it's about members of the Church (i.e. Christians) preparing to stand up against evil, injustice, and the like. Not literal "battle", but a figurative one. Hence the "Fighting this violence With your feet wrapped in peace" Basically the song, like everyone else said, can be interpreted as a call for Christians to unify against all the bad in the world. Hope that helps. :) |

Haha, this song actually makes me happy to be Mexican. A rarity for me. Lol. I agree though that this song is pure sex. It's what makes it great. ;) |

I think michaelc52 is pretty much right. The songs has hints of it everywhere. "I just wanna witness." i.e. not taking action/becoming invovled; which is not having intercourse "Watch you severing that velvet" Uh, yeah, pretty self-explanatory Also "The way you touch yourself" Either way, you gotta love this song. :) |

| Emilie Autumn – Opheliac Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
Yes! I noticed too. Sometimes it seems like it's Hamlets POV and other times it's Ophelia's. "I know you'd take me back But still I feign confusion" -Hamlet knowing Ophelia still loves him, but continuing his "insane" act "I couldn't be your friend My world was too unstable You might have seen the end But you were never able" -Halmet was starting to get closer to Ophelia when all his problems started, Ophelia couldn't help him even though she saw him in trouble "You know the games I play and the words I say when I want my own way You know the lies I tell when you've gone through hell and I say I can't stay" -Hamlet constantly plays mind games with Ophelia and does anything for his own plans "You know how hard it can be to keep believing in me When everything and everyone becomes my enemy And when there's nothing more you can do I'm gona blame it on you" - Hamlet can't trust anyone, especially with what he sees as Ophelia's father and others using her to get to him. He gets angry with her and blames her. But this seems like Ophelia to me: "Im your Opheliac My stalkings prove my virtue" -Ophelia is known to be pure. "I'm open to attack But I don't want to hurt you." -Could be her vulnerability, "open to attack"= free to attack, but she doesn't want to hurt him, i.e. attack back perhaps So yeah, there's alot of meaning in these lyrics and that's what makes it so great! :) |
