| Belle & Sebastian – Sunday's Pretty Icons Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
There is no hole in which to hide There is no plane to catch No hotel room that's warm enough No rent to a room that's quiet A friend I've known through six degrees Cools down to where I hide A friend I've known through dreams and prayers She comes back to my side You're so far from wanting to talk You're so far from wanting to say something good Feel something good The sea cries of loves of girls The sea cries of boys The storm, we are the both of us Too close to ever love Whisky from the Island of Sund Whisky from the year you were born Tastes like kidnap and ransom and exile Somebody asked me what hell was like Somebody asked me for help Somebody asked me what hell was like Lunging and happening, parting of souls Every girl you ever admired Every boy you ever desired Every love you ever forgot Every person that you despised is forgiven *Please note most importantly that Whisky must be spelled without an 'e' as this is a Scottish band, not an Irish one. |

| Belle & Sebastian – A Summer Wasting Lyrics | 15 years ago |

im sorry to be rude, but this song is not about cheery, good time summers!! its about his chronic fatigue syndrome and in the end he was cured of it by a 'faith healer' and as the bird sang everything was fine. but its about also he probably indulged in it and used it as an excuse to escape life, thus feeling guilty. |

| Belle & Sebastian – We Rule the School Lyrics | 15 years ago |

This song is about the artistic/sensitive class of people coexisting with the gruff, primal people. Suicide is presented in the first to stanzas - the difficulties of an artistic/sensitive person dealing with an often cruel, selfish world. The line "was she pushed?" sets up the song for this tension with other types of people who are thicker-skinned and less reflective/artistic. The next two stanzas are about having the courage to be yourself - to do things even if you don't fit in with others. "We Rule the School" on the bus stop was metaphorically written by men - those without sensitivity who grab what they please. The last stanza is self-explanatory. As always, just my opinion. |

| Belle & Sebastian – I Could Be Dreaming Lyrics | 15 years ago |

I believe this song is about courage - having the ability to do in real life what you fantasize about doing in your head. People often imagine themselves doing heroic things, or making bold statements to others, but often this does not happen due to fear, anxiety about the situation and the response it would have. It's about standing up for what you believe in. The lyrics are wrong on here - it should be: "If you had such a dream, would you get up and do the things you believe in?" Also, instead of hunted and haunted it's "I'm feeling awkward, I'm feeling tongue tied" - things that prevent us from speaking our mind and expressing how we really feel. The first verse itself seeks to reflect the paranoia of modern society - everyones a stranger, and the often tulmutuous circumstances surrounding the modern family. As always, just my opinion. |
