| Sade – Frankie's First Affair Lyrics
|
|
Frankie is a woman who has been cheated on in the past multiple times. Now she is in a relationship, possibly married, and cheating. She's crying because she feels bad and realizes that cheating doesn't mean that you don't love your partner. She's having an epiphany. The lyrics are kind of taunting her in a way: "Heart breaker you know now they (her exes) really did care 'cause it's your first affair." |

He was still in the throes of his messiah complex. "Why settle for a star when you could have the SON" |

I always thought this song was about a groupie type who has her eyes dead set on him. She's a free spirit, but she's also focused on what she wants. He finds her appealing but has no interest in the drama |

1. Christ is a faith statement
2. This doesn't mean he wouldn't write about Jesus as a man and not a god
3. Clearly, the first verse is about Jesus as he most likely was: a rebel and a revolutionary
4. I am an atheist |

| Audioslave – Doesn't Remind Me Lyrics

I disagree. I won't get into the rant, but the song seems to be more about oblivion than having some sunshiny moment. When someone has led a tortured life, even the seemingly positive aspects of the past can invoke painful memories. He wants to escape his past completely, forget everything, and begin anew. Sadly, this is impossible, so he can only cling to idiosyncrasies |

That being said, the first verse reminds me of what we learn in school (allusion to the Jonathan Swift essay about eating children)and the second is a harsher interpretation of that (allusion to Oliver Twist "May I have some more?") as well as the irony of these messages coinciding with such a "tender age." |

To say that the lyrics are some how condescending to the child he speaks of is ironic. We're here pontificating on the meaning of the song (and I think there is some meaning), but it won't be found lyric by lyric. Kurt Cobain obviously wrote from the gut. The verses evoke a feeling. The little boy who loves to masturbate likes it just as much as you or I do. In a way the song is a joke because no one knows what it means. |

I think it's about using heroin. He doesn't get the same high every time so instead of chasing it he's just like "come as you are." A friend and known enemy. |

The song's self-explanatory. I just like tha fact that it sounds like a threat. Like "I will put another hole in your head if you fuck around." |

| Prince – I Would Die 4 U Lyrics

|
I'm convinced that Prince thought he was the messiah at this point in his life. "I would die for u" is the same a Jesus dying for mankind. "I'm not human, I'm a dove" a dove is a messenger of peace. "What I really need is to know that you belive" that's what Christianity is all about: believing that this one man would/did die for you. |

Rather, it's doing something close to bundling his rage and libido but not succeeding. "I'm so horny, that's ok my will is strong" is about him trying to curb primal urges with his will. He's lying to himself; he knows he's gonna crack. It's a mantra (I'm not gonna crack). |

I think this song has to do with having a dark side. Laying your burden down would be appealing to the dark side of yourself, freeing it. Then he turns toward that dark side. The chorus is him showing his capacity for evil, showing you how and why your life could turn to shit because he is nothing but a blight, blocking out all goodness. |

| Norah Jones – Don't Know Why Lyrics

This song is about not having an orgasm. "I left you at the house of fun": he came, she didn't.
When I saw the break of day
I wished that I could fly away
Instead of kneeling in the sand
Catching teardrops in my hand
She wanted to orgasm (fly away), but now she's masturbating (kneeling in the sand, catching teardrops in my hand). |

Peach, plum, pear is her way of saying same shit, different day. It's about a typical, failed relationship. She's mousy and desperate, and he dumped her. Same shit, different day. |

In a way, this song is about settling. Not necessarily settling for less, but settling for the first real man that comes her way. She's tired of playing games. She's getting older but doesn't feel like a woman. There's a desperation in the phrase "I just wanna be a woman" as if that depends on a man being a man. |

"Heart Shaped Box": the uterus; a heartless person
This song is about being pussy-whooped.
He feels infantile in her presence because she has reduced him to a pussy-whooped sucker. It's as if he has become so regressed that he doesn't know if he wants to live inside of her (like a baby) or fuck her.
"Throw down your umbilical noose so I can climb right back": same concept. He's giving in to the coochie. |
