This song may likely be more about meeting the right person vs your own self-actualization journey that is your life. Sometimes you are too good for someone (verse 1), and other times they are too good for you (verse 2). Either way, you have to continue to your destination. Ideally, you meet the right person through the cross-reference of sharing the same destination. The author of this song seems intent on outlining the not-so-good feelings prior. Consider that the lyric should have been: "And her knows... a tied knot". Putting a ceiling on a certain knowledge is a wrong-girl feeling I've known too often. But, personally, I've been too afraid to ante up to a girl that could be better than me. Then again, I'm still on my journey. -Matt |
