I think the song is intentionally vague, but in reality is about Ben Burnley's internal struggle with alcoholism. Lines like "Holding the hand that hold me down", "I have nothing left, I can't face the dark without you", and "Alone I stand a broken man" are parallel to what he is reportedly going through, and why the band is on hiatus. It's also why his performance of it is so heartfelt and raw. |
