while sonically lovely, really depressing song lyrically... so glad to be past that crap... when I was younger I would have related much better, but now being happily married for 12 years, just about to turn 48 and first baby about to be born... circumstances could not be more different. Whew! |

yeah, would have to say the lyrics do use the monologue from Wings of Desire (great film by the way)
at least if you are going to "appropriate", you could d worse. Bottom line, i would expect that some kind of acknowledgement be given somewhere by Dirty Projectors.

I like the complementary nature of the soft ethereal feel of the music, and the melancholy of the lyrics... heartbreaking. The first two lines about falling in and out of love are well done; "..and you leave like you don't". ouch.

I agree with you Intothenight... I like the gentle ambiguity of the lyrics, very heartfelt, which describes how I feel about the album as a whole. I'm not sure if the pervading sadness of threes was in part acknowledgement that the band was moving apart (especially Jim?) but seems fitting.
I hope that Sparta can come back in some incarnation... I really, really enjoy their music. |
