It seems to me that the REASON today is the greatest day he has ever known is because he plans to kill himself today...anyways, great song, great album, great band! |

I find two things VERY interesting. That the writer(s) of this song decided not to switch the positions of the ending and the four lines before the third chorus. And also that he/she/they titled it "According to You" instead of "According to Him".
Maybe, even if she does dump him for the other guy, even if she does throw his insults back at him, in the end his verbal abuse will stay with her forever. |

The difference between rape victims (raisins) and girls that carelessly give it away (cornflakes)...and how sometimes cornflakes end up as raisins through their flakiness...or raisins might lose their security in the post-trauma and turn into cornflakes

"But she grew up tall and she grew up right with them Indiana boys on an Indiana night"
Is that supposed to mean she lost her virginity in group sex? |

| Lady GaGa – Poker Face Lyrics

The whole gambling/casino thing is just a metaphor for her making men believe that she likes them, when in actuality she's a lesbian, or at least bicurious. And the "take your bank before I pay you out" part means she also swindles away all of their money before she dumps them...so basically she's a slut
But one of my friends thinks it is more of a storytelling...that four or five guys are playing a high-stakes game of poker, and there's a girl under the table taking turns giving them oral, and the dudes have to put on "poker faces" to hide their pleasure so the others won't know he's being blown (at the moment). |

i think it's supposed to be about a dude liking a girl who is taken (twenty dollar ring stuck on her finger). He knows deep inside that he is better for her anyways (take her where her soul belongs) and he's going to actually try to steal her from his friend (nothing that I wouldn't try). |

A housewive who is fed up with her husband, and decides to burn down the house (maybe with him in it?). Then she figures that while she's at it, she'll get revenge on all the other people that have done wrong by her, sparing only the kids. Even though her common sense tells her this is a really stupid idea, her soul tells her to let go and roll with it. And in the end, in her new habitat, she and the kids are all right. |

| Juliana Hatfield – My Sister Lyrics
|
What I get from it...
In the first verse speaker is young and immature, wanting nothing more than to get attention from her big sister, but at the same time she resents her deeply for having such a great life.
The second stanza shows the big sister showing more love to the speaker, which makes her very happy.
In the next verse, the little sister tries to become as naturally perfect as her sister, to no avail.
In the last lines, several years later, the sister is late, and in her mourning the grown-up speaker thinks about all that could have been, and how their relationship would have further blossomed. |

Most of us can really relate to this...I know I can. But in real life, I think Tracy wrote this song as a vent from her relationship with Alice Walker, who couldn't even decide whether or not she was a lesbian. |

| Joan Osborne – St. Teresa Lyrics

The speaker encounters a streetwalker (corner Saint Teresa) and they hit it off. She shows Joan life through her eyes. It is also quite likely that she sells drugs on the side (reach down for the sweet stuff), and has a child, whose father is one of her anonymous clients. |
