| Ryan Star – Losing Your Memory Lyrics | 13 years ago |

To me this song is about someone that committed suicide, and he's talking about the person he loved slowly losing the memory of him. It's like it's written in the perspective of him being dead but still being able to see everything else around him including the person he loved - and he's following her through the time just after he died. The first verse is about when he just did it and the girl is calling all of her friends to tell them what's happened. (The line is "I'M never coming back" not "YOU'RE never coming back") The part about how she acts are her first reactions to the news ("Pretend that you want it" could be about in the heat of the moment she is so angry about what he's done that she thinks he's so selfish that she's glad he did it."Don't react" is then about the shock she is in about it) "The police are coming too slow now" - is about how the emergency services were called but it was too late to save him "I would have died, I would have loved you all my life" - is about how he would have died FOR her, but he killed himself before he could show that. The other bit is obviously about if he had lived he would have always loved her. "Where have you gone, The beach is so cold in winter here And where have I gone, I wake in Montauk with you near Remember the day Cause this is what dreams should always be I just want to stay I just want to keep this dream in me" This verse is about his existence now, he lives in his past/memories and can see all of the good times with her whilst at the same time he can see the present time when he is gone. "Wake up, it's time, little girl, wake up All the best of what we've done is yet to come Wake up, it's time, little girl, wake up Just remember who I am in the morning" When he talks about "the best of what we've done is yet to come" I see if as though he has affected the girl's life and will make them a better person and/or she will have the best time of her life to look back on. (Or it could be more literal and be something like she's pregnant) The last part is about how he hopes she won't forget him, and he wants her to be able to remember him every single morning. It's a sad conclusion as you know he's always going to be there seeing her every morning of her life, and she's going to forget a little more about him every day while he's still there hoping it's not true. |

I agree with you Amy. Firstly, I hear someone's last thoughts: The piano and tempo at the start gives the feeling like everything is going in slow motion after a literal crash. In all of the turmoil and chaos everywhere, there is one person who is dying but phases out of it all thinking of the person he loves. Then I see the "crash" of a relationship: The moment when one or both people in a relationship realise there is no chance of being happy with the other person. Even though they are hurting immensely, they still care deeply for the other person and just want them to move on and find happiness with someone else. |
