| Labrynth Pomp wasn't initially the hottest song on Hissing Fauna. Naturally you would gravitate to the first half of the Album. But as time went on, Labrynth Pomp was the only cure (be it a really crude interpretation on how to handle mild depression) to the devastated tone of the other songs on Hissing Fauna. In terms of significance, it lead the way for what would be Skeletal Lampings tone of undefying passion, strength, and pomp. | |

Usually Kevin's got a lot of Greek chorus stuff going, but this last year, Single Ladies played for like a year and half straight. He says something about wombs being filled with black butterflies. | In this period of 'Of Montreal's' History, I think the indie scene was still growing popularity. And if you listen to his lyrics similar to a rappers, there are several very clear messages. 'Octopus in your purse' --> Your art is bitchin' like an evil sailor. 'Remember the knife is worse, for the editors of movie trailers', maybe the knife tool in cutting DVDs for indie films, or that having a knife in the movie trailer is about as bad as having vituperative fine art work. Being decent, basically. Of montreal usually does his work without murdering, drugs, or foul profanity (until Wicked Wisdom of course). Which goes into the next verse, and then comments on how Uncle Alice, a heavy metal band, is no good for you. 'I'm not upset, just confused, and it's so tough' explains why he'd never listen to Heavy metal. He associates heavy metal with being upset, confused, and that it represents rough masculinity. The next line shows that he's too stimulated with pop music to even get bored enough to just listen to screaming all day. And he tells others, that the music will change you into something horrible. Obviously if you were going to listen to the song in braille, you'd have to touch raised glass (glass freckles, thats what it feels like). If you listened to Heavy Metal and you were blind, you'd be scared to death. If your hair color is going as planned, you can always talk to the scary, cursing, knife carrying, upset, confused, and overall blind Erik Eckles. | |

| The instruments and sounds in this song are so unique and playful. Its more of a narrative and reminds me that Kevin has children who he probably tells interesting bedtime stories to, kinda like JK Rowling. | |

| Like usual, Kevin has his own ulterior motives in this song. There is a smattering of indie band names in this song. The Killers, The Waifs, The Tears: and these are the only ones that I knew that actually came up on the internet. I'm sure there are many more local ones that hes probably mentioning in this song. Besides that, though, The song is bitchin! | |
