| Dan Black – Symphonies feat. Kid Cudi Lyrics | 14 years ago |
|
What are the tabloids going to make up next? Every time he reads them he sees some shit they make up about him. If he ever saw them, he'd "Black Dynamite" them (do what the black avenger-hero does). If he did that, then at least they'd have a reason to not like him, rather than before when they had no reason. All clear? |

| That's the most hilarious thing I've ever heard XD | |
| Say Anything – Slowly, Through a Vector Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| I have no idea, but the song seems to give the feeling of being about his alienation, tumultuous relationship, and fantasies about saving a girlfriend from harm. He is tortured by both conflict with her and the thought of harm coming her way, so he proclaims "ha ha ha, show me what you got" as a sign of his dedication to be with her despite their conflicts, and to save her no matter what horrors may come upon her. In other words, "ha ha ha", I'm crazy, so "show me what you got", no matter what you throw at me I'll still be here to "lick it up" at the end of the day. | |

| I love how sarcastic his voice is for the whole song. His tone really makes the song EPIC. | |
| Say Anything – No Soul (feat. Anna Waronker) Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| If it's not eye, he definitely says "heart" like "awhyrt" | |

| Oh wow, it's the same tune, too! I never realized that. It's obviously sampled. | |
| Say Anything – Yellow Cat (Slash) Red Cat Lyrics | 15 years ago |

Apathy. This song reeks of apathy. It just so perfectly expresses that feeling in every way; the lyrics, the music, tempo, etc. It's not a song I would hear and necessarily like, it's not catchy or something I'd feel like rocking out to; it is art. It is a perfectly composed piece of art that expresses the perception of an absurd world that is too hopeless and predictable to care about. |

| Most awesome music is written when people are high. Or mentally ill. He was probably both. Which is why it most definitely has some deeper meaning beyond what some sane and sober person would write or interpret. | |

I actually relate to the second half of this song more than anything. It is my favorite part of a song, ever. And I just went to a show of theirs where they ended with this song. Need I say, I think I reached orgasm. Anywho, the second half is epic because it perfectly describes the feeling of being so annoyed, pissed off, and alienated from everyone around you, that you just want to get the fuck out and experience everything about this beautiful world. If you can't find anyone who shares this longing, fuck them, cause you're gonna get it if it's the last thing you do. |

| Max Bemis and the Painful Splits – Chlorine Bath Lyrics | 15 years ago |

I feel like it should be "Shred my lids" instead of lips, referring to waking up... But who knows. The verses of this song are kind of confusing and not that great, but I really like the chorus and song in general. |

| Nine Inch Nails – Every Day Is Exactly the Same Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| I also just realized why I like this song so much; My favorite book EVER is 1984, and this song has some amazing parallels to it. I probably like them both because of how I relate to them. I've gotta say I fucking love the line, "I'm still inside here. A little bit comes bleeding through. I wish this could've been any other way, but I just don't know what else I could do." It reminds me of Winston at the end of 1984, and exactly how I felt after resorting to antidepressants. I had given in to the authorities out of weakness. There is no pain there, but there is also no love. You are simply just not human anymore. | |
| Nine Inch Nails – Every Day Is Exactly the Same Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| Am I the only one who thinks this is about being on antidepressants? Exactly how I felt while being on them. You don't want to, but you don't know what else you can do, and end up just doing what they all want you to, losing yourself, your emotions, and your true desires in the process. | |

| TOSS MY CAUSTIC SALAD! | |
| Say Anything – The Truth Is, You Should Lie with Me (feat. Joshua Sultan) Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| I think it's generally just about vapid people who want to find people to hook up with and aren't interested in genuine relationships, only using and being used by people for sex. They just want to deceive and be deceived for entertainment or distraction, no matter how empty that is. | |
| Bright Eyes – Landlocked Blues Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| Whoops I meant only *impermanent* / temporary | |
| Say Anything – Chia-Like, I Shall Grow Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Or, according to Max, it's about "feeling like an alien and being angry about it." | |
| Bright Eyes – Landlocked Blues Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| This song is about being landlocked, so to speak, in your own personal and necessarily self-serving existence so long as you are alive. To breach your little island would be to be free; free of the need to maintain your ego and physical safety; free of defending yourself, both physically and emotionally, at the expense of others. However, the island is the only thing keeping you alive, and leaving the island can only happen in death. Hence, the desire for true freedom can only be attained in death. It is the desire for more than this cage of human form and mind that we have been given. To reach the water is to attain a kind of spiritual freedom that we are as of now incapable of. Along with the unfulfulling nature of this island, even the things we can enjoy are all only permanent, and it can be no other way. So we long for something permanent, the only thing of which we know is death. All we can do in life when we need to get away from our self-serving yet impermanent existence is just walk away, walk away, walk away... | |

i've watched you all succeed with the highest marks in greed from my cave where you're displayed like photographs that bleed *He watches everyone succeed out of motivation based on greed, while he sits in his cave alone, looking at photographs of all those who are more successful than him. He feels so much contempt for their success and happiness while he has none, that these images that taunt him of everyone else's perfect yet shallow life seem to bleed. Life is unfair and these pictures are destroying him.* and my teeth grind names into their ivory membranes i am hate everlasting with this sickly spell i'm casting *He has such contempt for their success and his misery that his suffering has turned to hate for others who have what he can't, and he wishes the misfortune he has experienced on everyone else.* discard all feelings the stars scar my ceiling sun, i won't spare you moon, i won't spare you *He discards his feelings, for all he feels is pain, which leaves one with no other option but to feel numb. The stars, or symbols of memories from a pleasant past, scar his ceiling, or heart/soul. He sees the stars that remind him of a better time, but they still remain, taunting him, scarring him because he can have that no more. His pain is so unbearable that he wants to destroy all things good because all they do is taunt him and scar him. Therefore he wishes to destroy these things, and he will not even spare the sun or the moon.* and my pain is mine it's become my friend with time chia-like, it grows watch it fester for my foes *His pain is the only constant in his life, and so it becomes like his only friend. All it does is grow, and causes his contempt for everything to grow and grow as well.* one day i'm gonna get up get right back into the city with my flamethrower mouth you bet your life it won't be pretty *One day he will leave his cave where he has been hiding with all his pain and anger that has built up, he will go back into the city and destroy everything that has caused him this pain. His mouth will explode with the rage that has grown for them all, as he will destroy them in a fit of rage.* photograph, photograph, photograph... why'd you have to go and take a picture of a life like that? you aren't new enough i give up, i give up, i give up on you *He looks at an old photograph where things were good in life, and wonders why he has to be taunted by more reminders of a better life that he can no longer have. He muses that the photograph is not new enough, for if it were recent, he would have a better life in the present or close to it. He gives up on focusing on the pleasant past that he wants to attain again, for all it does is taunt him.* look at you, look at you, look at you... pretty boy, floating face down in a pond of glue you aren't new enough we give up, we give up, we give on all those like you *Perhaps he sees himself in the past as someone who is happier and yet has less depth, just a pretty boy, who is drifting along in life ignorant of anything else, and is content being suspended/stuck in his own little world ("floating face down in a pond of glue"). Again, he muses that this is not new enough because he wants to feel this way again but gives up on trying.* |
