Feelin' it's about Canada. Would anyone care to agree?

Built to Spill – The Host Lyrics 16 years ago
Doug might have been just trying to avoid the question or something. If I were him, I would want to be defining my art in any certain way; I would want others to interpret it.
I think it is about conforming. It talks about kind of questioning the invisible driving force that makes us motivated and all, while also connecting this to why somebody would ever try to paddle against the current of society. He talks about us becoming drones. Err, I'll stop there for tonight. Anybody understand what he is talking about with giving stuff away?

Built to Spill – In The Morning Lyrics 16 years ago
I don't understand how it could be about morning woods. "Appearing normal." I doubt Doug walks around all day with a solid stick, and why would he be writing about it anyways?
I think it is about him coming home in the morning, yet he feels lousy as hell because he had just an lousy day and would like to do something about it, but he can't because tomorrow is too soon and he doesn't have time. Nobody asks about him because he is appearing normal, which makes it an isolated incident. and the person who he likes doesn't care about him and he really does want to get over this person. I'm focusing more on the last bit of the song in this area.
Or, he is just trying to win some love from somebody, but he doesn't want to make a move or anything, so he just stops and wants this desire of his to go away.
It is maybe a mix of the two, but I think it is a better guess than morning woods. We should all be wrong and call it a day, yes?
