| The Black Crowes – She Talks To Angels Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| i don't necessarily think this song is about someone addicted to drugs. Or at least that's not quite what it strikes me as. I think it's about someone who has a family with certain addictions however, and she likes to hide that from the world. She separates herself from them and doesn't talk about their problems. She hides who she really behind a facade. I think the painting her eyes black and pulling her shades down tight are referring to that. The pain line could be that she smiles when she feels hurt by what's going on. Like the smile is part of the facade. It's fake. The pain's gonna make everything alright may refer to her false belief that living this false life is the best way to handle the things that are going on in her life. Saying she talks to angels may be a reference to prayer. But instead of reaching the big man himself...she's just talking to his underlings. Maybe she doesn't feel worthy to talk to God himself. The lock of hair could be a reference to a younger friend or sibling that she lost and the lock of hair is how she remembers him. The cross is obviously a reference to god. Maybe she hasn't met him yet because she just goes through the motions of religion to please her family. She doesn't really believe in it. The not yet tag on the end may be the narrator expressing faith that she will someday find a life with deep spiritual fulfillment. The last verse "she don't know no lovers" has the most obvious meaning to me. She's single. She isn't frequently involved with men. To her that's nothing special, no big deal, she doesn't care. But to the narrator it means everything because he loves her. It means everything because he want's to be not just her lover, but her soul-mate. To me personally, i see myself as the narrator. There's a girl i know that fits all of these descriptions (except she doesn't keep any hair in her pocket). Her parents are crazy, and it wouldn't be surprising to me to find a hypocritical side to her fundamentalist parents (like adultery, alcoholism). They've made it to to where we can't talk to eachother. They've effectively banished me from her life. She's not what the other members of her family are. She's got more to her. She doesn't fit the mold her parents want her to. She has to hide some of that in order to keep the peace in her family. She has to hide behind a facade. She doesn't mess around with guys, she's definitely a virgin. Never been on a date. To her, all that stuff can wait. It's no the end of the world to her. To me, the fact that she's single means the world. It means that for me, there's still a snowball's chance in hell, and that's all i need to keep going. We shared our first kiss yesterday, when we got a very rare second alone. It is a moment i will treasure always...and gives a little more meaning to this song. | |
| Coldplay – Lost! Lyrics | 15 years ago |

In the first stanza i believe the song is talking about a warrior fighting a battle that isn't going so well. He's loosing, but he hasn't lost, he's not lost (he knows what he's doing), he's not gonna give up and stop, and he's not gonna cross over to the other side (if you can't beat em join em) and fight for the other side. in stanza number two he's hurting, but not hurt. Like, he's down but not out. It kind reminds me of this interview i saw on ESPN with former Lions QB Joey Harrington. Now, Harrington wasn't very good, and played for a crappy team, but he was an NFL quarterback which basically means he's better than 99 percent of the world at what he does, but by NFL standards...we was no Joe Montana. Anyways they asked him what the best advice a coach ever gave to him was. He said that when he first started playing football in grade school his dad was his coach, and in his first game at QB he got sacked really hard. Anyone who's ever played or watched football (even if it's just in your backyard) knows that getting hit that hard hurts. Well Joey gets up and goes to the sideline. His dad finds him and he's all like "Dad, I'm hurt." well his dad asks "Joey, are you hurt or are you just hurtING? If you're hurt then you can't play, and we need to get someone out there. If you're just hurtING you can play, and you need to be out there because your teammates need you." It's like, this guy is hurting, but he's not hurt. Things he's run into have been painful, so he's hurting, but he can still press on and get through it so he's not "hurt." At the end of the stanza he says that he got what he deserved, no better and no worse. Meaning that he got what he deserved from his past. It may have been bad, or good, but he got what he deserved from it. In the next stanza he talks about strings of failures (which are possibly causes for his losing the battle.) He just kept coming up short, or taking the wrong paths, or making the wrong choices. The part about waiting till the shine wears off could refer to maybe his fame. To get to where he his he's gotta be a pretty good warrior, or maybe he just used to be. Maybe he's waiting for his fame and notoriety to wear off, so theirs less pressure on him to do the right things. Maybe it's not fame, maybe people around him look up to him and they expect him to know the answers. He may be waiting for those people to realize that he's no superman, just a warrior or just a man. The big fish part is kinda self explanatory. Maybe to another big-shot warrior, or a rival. You may be a big deal now, but somebody's gonna come across and knock you down too. You're a big fish in a small pond. Meaning that maybe the big-shot is only big...because he's surrounded by small people and compared to others isn't all that big. then he's kinda saying "you'll be failing too soon." like, the rival is cocky and will run into closed doors and wide rivers and won't know what to do. Then it kinda suggests that the rival is all talk. The warrior is waiting the the shooting is over to see the rivals true colors. Also it repeats the shine part. This time i think it has a different meaning. He's waiting to see what the rival is really made of after all the hype (or shine) wears off. When he's just another man. It's a story about what other's expect you to be, being blinded by fame or money or whatever, having any enemy and realizing you can still win at life even if you lose the battle. |

| Parachute – She Is Love Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| i like the personification idea, but that's really how i view this song. It reminds me a lot of my current girlfriend, who also happens to be my best friends. My ex dumped me the friday before Valentines Day. On V-day my and my friend were both lonely...and so she came over. and she was there as i cried, and still couldn't understand what had happened. It was one of my darkest days (hint hint) and she made it better. she was a true friend that helped me through it. a few weeks later here we are, as a couple. She's why i didn't give up on relationships, she's patient and kind...and to me, she is love. that's what i think of, when i hear this song | |
| Owl City – Fuzzy Blue Lights Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| this reminds me of my recent break up. I'm a bit of an amateur photographer, and the eyepeice reminds me of how i used my hobby to deal with things. i would just go out and shoot pics. it also reminds me of how i wanted everything to simple, and organized, "lined up in single file" the song also talks about situations where the narrator is separated from the subject of the song (the hotel balcony, disappearing on the overpass, sad art gallery.) the balcony part spoke to me the most. We had been such important parts of eachoter's lives. the next time i saw her...it felt really weird not to run up and kiss her. like i felt lonely and out of place to see her near me, but feel so far away. | |
| MGMT – Electric Feel Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| this song is just about a really smokin hot girl, and then having sex with said smoking hot girl. Like a girl that turns you on like nobody else. This song is ab meeting up with that girl, and saying "baby, do what ever you want with me." and that results in an "electric feel" meaning that the sex is so amazing that you feel like you've got a fucking electric current running through you, and you're on top of the damn WORLD | |
