I actually have a different interpretation to this song, based on my own experience. I think it's about a loving relationship that was doomed to end, though she wants to hold to it. Now they are broken up, she still feels attached to him though she knows they are over. I think regardless if you know the relationship was going to end, you still are drawn to that person regardless, especially if you loved them very deeply. I think in the first verse, she's questioning herself and wondering about him though they are clearly over. Then the pre-chorus, it's talking about how she's trying to be in denial about her feelings, thinking it will hurt her less, when in all actuality, it hurts more. She still feels aspects of him in her life, regardless of the fact that he's gone. Then the chorus, but then he "disappears" because she goes back to reality and realizes it over. Second verse, she is thinking about the "what-ifs" in the relationship, had they worked out. Bridge, she looks back as to realizing how their relationship was doomed. He was ready to move on, but she isn't. But she realizes now, she has to move on now. Hopefully, you like this interpretation. I love how she simply just sings the lyrics, as it should be. Simple words express the most emotions. I love it<3 |

| I can relate to this song in so many ways. My ex and I broke up a few months ago and I truly mean it when I say he was the sweetest thing I've ever known. It's about being intoxicated by love, all the ups and down of it. Also, how every little thing that they do (the kisses, the way they walk, fingertips on the small of my back), those are all the things that you really remember when you break up. Beautifully done song. | |

| I think these lyrics are talking about the awkwardness that happens when most couples break up. For me, personally with my ex, sometimes I look at him and think, "We used to be so close and in sync...and now I feel as though I don't even know you anymore." It's the awkwardness of knowing that they used to be one of the closest people you had...and now you can't take those memories away after you break up. I think many people can relate to this. | |
