| I always interpreted this, maybe too literally, as a "junkie" dying from an overdose, and how someone's addiction can "carry" everyone else along in their river. Now that they're dead, all that painful chaos is quieted and still. The last line makes me think though that maybe "ghost" isn't quite so literal, and they've just left town or otherwise made themselves scarce, leaving those they love empty and wondering. | |

I wonder if it's about being divorced for a stronger love affair "If you banish me from your profits And if I get banished from the kingdom up above" Losing money in the divorce that the husband gave, possibly going against religion which doesn't allow for divorce "I'll sacrifice money and heaven all for love Let me be loved, let me be loved" But it will be worth it to really be with her love "If my brain quits, well, I guess then that's just it And if my hands stop working you can call me lazy And if I get pregnant I guess I'll just have the baby Let it be loved, let me be loved" If she stayed with the current marriage, she'd just be giving in to a bad, static scene I dunno. |
