| i believe this song is about all of the above, so i agree mostly with parabola 17. Tori is a preacher's daughter, as such, she was always under a microscope...an easy target for scrutiny. the term "precious things" symbolizes the scars that haunt one's soul...the deep rooted fears of gaining acceptance from peers. she sings about letting go of that hurt and the illusion that other people make up who you are. its about coming to a realization that what matters is self-acceptance. you can never please everyone...that would be like "chasing after the rain." | |
