I think it's about groupies. In a blinding flash of a tour. Kind of like the visuals from Madonna's video 'Ray of Light' where it shows the hustle and bustle. Just a thought. Life on the road with all the adoration thrown at you.....'wealthiest gentlemen only and now you're lonely'. Both sides of the situation from the guys point of view to the girls? Or maybe they're lonely after they're through with the girl. Great song musically. Brilliant. |

I think it was a mentality reference. The town is 'fried'. Actually, I found the energy in Memphis to be enigmatic. Loved the place. But the girl sounds like she's got some problems. |

Good observation. I don't know how we missed that. Relooking this I don't think he hurt her - 'I guess she seemed a bit nervous, do you think I'm that stupid'...sounds like they were asking him what he thought about this girl's demeanor - she was on the run or something? Maybe why she didn't have her own place, looked fried...maybe she did something to the owner's of the apartement they went to? |

This song renews my faith in music. I live in the styx of Kentucky where they arrest you for looking cross-eyed. I'm completely and utterly serious when I say that in my past life (after first moving here in 92) was arrested in the following years no less than 20 times. And for the most minor of infractions. Oh the pain. Now I can laugh (almost). This song is entirely relatable. Good fun. |
