Taylor said in an interview that this song is generally about "a relationship between a younger girl and a much older man." So, I think it's about her and her fellow guitarist, Ben Phillips. "Since I met you, I've been crazy" - Taylor definatley started showing her more Gothic side once the Pretty Reckless was formed. |

| This song reminds me of a girl (who we'll call... "Coco"), who I'm not close friends with, but know about her past relationships from my other friends who know her: Back around freshman or sophomore year, she started flirting with a guy who was already in a relationship, and eventually, he dumped his girlfriend for her -- this made the best friend of his ex-girlfriend very angry, and she has never spoken to him - she now calls him a "douchebag" whenever mentioning him - or Coco again. Coco is still friends with the guy and his ex-, though. Then, she dated another boy who I know, but I don't know much about how their relationship went. And then, she dated another boy who I know, this time who was a senior while she was a junior. From what I heard, the reason they broke up was because Coco wanted an open relationship, and the senior boy didn't know he could handle it. And when prom was upcoming, he asked her to the prom, which she declined; but when another guy friend asked her to the prom, she said yes -- and I've seen pictures of those two on FaceBook... holding hands & shit (Yeah, I felt left out since many juniors went to the prom last year, but that's a different story). Remember earlier when I mentioned that the best friend of the 1st guy's ex-girlfriend was very angry about what happened? Yeah, she once called Coco "the ruiner of all relationships." Coco now goes out with a 27-year-old man (which is a semi-secret). Oh, and as for the song, the music also seems to fit her enthusiastic personality. | |

The music is soothing = Eric & Dylan happened to have been normal, if occassionally, troubled teenagers. The music makes you want to dance = These two teenagers undoubtedly had a dark side. Nobody ever suspected Eric or Dylan's almost 2-year plan, including buying guns w/ the help of older friends, which they praised themselves for. Like many teenagers, they also smoked and drank, but were shown to have been fun to hang out with (according to whatever footage you find of them (mostly Dylan)). During their school massacre, Eric &/or Dylan reportedly said that they've been waiting a long time for this. The reason they were able to shoot schoolmates w/ accuracy was due to all the practice they did at a shooting range. “Your hair’s on fire! You must’ve lost your wits!” is clearly what you’d think when you see them screaming at the camera during their “Hitmen for Hire” project, or hear their voices in the background during the 911 call(s), or even what the whole school was thinking. According to many eyewitness accounts, Eric and Dylan were one of the most bullied kids in their school. They were constantly bullied by the jocks, whom lives they envied. Also note that, not only did the two have a dark side and all, but basically hated the world and everyone in it, while also just wanting to find true love. With the chorus, I realized, the shooter isn’t just referring to the kids as “all the other kids,” “You,” or just telling them to “run.” He’s insulting them. Eric & Dylan apperantly insulted and mocked their scared, dead, or injured schoolmates. Things like, “Listen up you pieces of shit!” “Pathetic!” and “Quit your bitchin’.” The whistling in this song actually reminded me of how jolly and excited they reportedly were while killing the students in the library. The way it just ends like that, with a thump and ringing music fading out? To me, it says that even though the massacre came to an end with Eric Harris & Dylan Klebold dead themselves, they no doubt left a haunting legacy of being able to pull of what’s considered to be the deadliest school shooting in America. |

Back at school, as I got to know him, including other people, more and more, his kindness & honesty is what made my affections develop further. But I never told him that, for fear of the awkwardness that would come out of it. And then, one night, I saw that he got a girlfriend (who didn't go to the same school as the most of us). I remember glaring at her, because I was jealous -- it was sad for me, but I eventually got over it. The next time I saw them together, I swear, she glared at me (kind of like how Gorillaz do in the cover of Demon Days). And because of that, I'm afraid of speaking to her. Long story short, while I'm good friends with the guy, his girlfriend obviously hates me. And then, a majority of this year's Summer was boring and shitty. "Summer don't know me..." = As noted before, I met him at the beginning of Summer 2011, which was also a good vacation for me. This year's Summer... ehh, not so much. Summer is supposed to be exciting and stuff, and a majority of it wasn't for me, as if it, along with many of my friends, had forgotten about me. "'Cause I do know, Lord..." = Seeing how much my life sucks, as you can see in the above paragraph, I wonder what purpose is there to live here. I always seem to go back to remember how God is such a good being and all. My mom always assures me that I am here for a reason, and God hasn't showed me my path yet -- That, and how having a boyfriend shouldn't matter right now. Not sure if the guy I liked believes in God, though. "I saw that day / Lost my mind" = The night I found out my crush had a significant other. I was jealous, mad, and sad, but I couldn't let the others see it ("Lord, I'm fine"). The next verse = I can't really make out how this part fits my situation... But the "you'll see" part sounds like a threat, in which the guy's girlfriend glared at me that one time (other times, she smiled at me...but that may have been fake affection). "You'll flee" also reminds me of when I made a tag request of FaceBook, in a picture she took at the graduation ceremony aftermath, when we crowded together for a group photo. I was cut off a bit from it, and she declined my request. "Maybe in time, you'll want to be mine" = the damn Women Logic, where we hope our crushes will know about our feelings & return them. That's what obviously happened to me with this guy, since I never told him how I felt & probably never will (although I have caugh him staring at me multiple times... maybe his girlfriend told him about me - and others, too!). The night I saw him having his arm around her, the memories of hoping to one day be his came flooding into me. |

This song is clearly about a man at least trying to change the way he is by being more open-minded, with his failing relationship with his girlfriend. His soon-to-be ex-girlfriend has come to hate him for being a Jerkass, and prefers to never see nor speak to him again. The boyfriend wonders about all his problems (probably talking about them with his friends), and would rather wish to make things up with her. But, since she now loathes him, he ponders if she ever thinks or talks about him, hence, "Did she call my name...?!" As for the song title, he also probably wants/predicts it to pour rain on the day he dies of a broken heart, to fit the mood of mourning. As for how the song ends: The chanting, that was heard during the beginning, fading out with the instruments... only to come back, getting louder, until it officially ends. This must symbolize how, even with the man gone & dead, he'll still come back to haunt those who knew - and maybe even once - loved him. |

This song was used in an AMV on YouTube called "Beyond Birthday x L x Naomi -Sugar Cube". The Story: There are a string of murders happening in Los Angeles, California. Japanese FBI agent (who is on-the-leave), Naomi Misora, is assigned by detective L to investigate on the case. She meets another detective named Rue Ryuzaki, and no matter how strange he is, she accepts him as an investigative partner, while she still manages to have some private phone conversations with L. Much later on, it is revealed that Ryuzaki was the murderer all along -- preferred being called Beyond Birthday (because he had the ability to know his own & everybody else's names and lifespans before he was even born); raised in an orphanage, taught to be L's successor along with 'A', he mysteriously disappeared as he became completely obsessive over L. Going as far as to dress & act like him to trick Naomi! So, this is my depiction of the song: I'm looking to the life The words falling out But only I know what it's right Put a wish on the sky = even though Naomi was on the leave of absence as an FBI agent, she's willing to help L on the murder cases.
