SAMANTHA: Uh, just first off, I’m a really big fan and you guys do great LIVE shows. I saw you at the Phoenix in May. I was just wondering, heheh, ah, what inspired you to write the song, Fences? HAYLEY: Fences! Um, well actually that song is kinda about the first year and half being on the road … its-its about the end of the first year and a half, how I felt like, uh, especially for me personally, I was kinda pretending to be totally okay and wasn’t, wasn’t letting, um, y’know any … I-I didn’t want my flaws to show, and if I was unhappy about something I didn’t want people to know because I wanted everyone to think that, uh, I was perfect all the time, I was fine and um, I don’t know, this song is me talking to myself saying, um, like get over it and its kinda, I mean its obvious that you’re dying, dying …, y’know. So … its, its just about the struggle of being in the business. The proof to this can be viewed here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sZWqxYmastk&feature=player_embedded#at=353 |

| Actually, in several interviews she said this was about the whole band in general and how angry she felt with the band and vice versa, and because of that, she felt [in the music video, the parts where she was in a straight jacket], she felt chaotic inside. so they went to council sessions to work on their disagreements and feuds. she felt is was her versus them. | |

It’s about the mixture of drugs and a guy, possibly a drug dealer? There’s no escape I can’t hide I need a hit Baby, give me it ^ “I need a hit” . . . it’s obvious, because when some refer to drugs, they sometimes refer to it as a “hit”. And the lines surrounding “I need a hit” and “Baby, give me it” she’s not referring to a boy or possible drug dealer. Too high Can’t come down Losing my head Spinning ‘round and ‘round Do you feel me now ^ Pretty obvious, “can’t come down” because when she says she’s “too high” she’s saying she high and, basically can’t come down from the rush or high she’s receiving in her mind. AKA, “losing my head” and everything around her is “spinning ‘round and ‘round”. And the last line is basically asking her “do you feel me now”–meaning, does she feel the drugs now. With a taste of your lips I’m on a ride You’re toxic I’m slipping under With a taste of poison paradise I’m addicted to you Don’t you know that you’re toxic And I love what you do Don’t you know that you’re toxic ^ Alcohol, and possibly heroin or some other type of drug powder. She refers to alcohol as being toxic, and how she’s slipping under because of it. She loves the affect it has on her. It’s getting late To give you up I took a sip From my devil cup Slowly It’s taking over me ^ Meaning she’s really deep into what she got herself into, and as a result, it’s taking over her–it’s becoming her, the drugs are becoming a vital part of her. The devil’s cup refers to coffee, so she’s drinking coffee to come down from the high she’s encountered. Too high Can’t come down It’s in the air And it’s all around Can you feel me now ^ “It’s in the air” and “and it’s all around” <- she’s referring to the smoke, so she’s probably smoking. Either marijuana or so. Intoxicate me now With your lovin' now I think I'm ready now I think I'm ready now Intoxicate me now With your lovin' now I'm ready now ^ She’s ready to go through the cycle all over again. I personally think it’s talking about drugs, but it can be perceived both ways. |

| Vic, on a video, had stated this song was basically just lines from other lyrics that he really liked. Meaning, he'd take his favourite lines from old lyrics and he put them into this song--he said this song had no meaning, because of that. | |

It’s obvious that this song is based in America. But another thing I noticed is that this song is based off how the media portrays the perfect look and body type for females. And in the video that Die Mannequin recently made, it pretty much portrayed how the media generally accepts the stick thin woman with the perfect face, etc. |

| Well, in an interview I remember her saying that this song was based off a girl who lived in Australia and had lived in a basement and was raped by her own father. And she bore her own siblings. | |
