I agree with most of the comments.. this song is about drug problems and how as much as you know you shouldn't be doing something that is terrible for you, its difficult to stop because, "oh what a feeling." I believe the drug of note in this song is heroin, not cocaine which later ended shannon's life. for anyone who has ever experimented with strong opioids(heroin, oxycontin etc), "Someone's pouring warm gravy all over me" is a good way to describe the high of feeling numb&weightless after a hit. All that aside this is one of my favorite songs because of the raw emotion and what seems almost like a cry for help through music. If you like this song other good blind melon songs with similar feeling&subject are "Hell"(Nico), "Frosting a cake"(Unreleased), & "Drive" (Blind Melon). R.I.P Shannon Hoon |

| this is an unreleased song...i came across it in a folder of rare blind melon songs. this is a great song for a blind melon fan but someone unfamiliar with their story and sound may not understand/appreciate it. If i had to hypothesize what it has to do with i would say its probably somehow connected to the misery that comes with a bad drug addiction. Shannon Hoon struggled with drug addiction during the latter of his musical career(from which i think that most creative, original music comes), which eventually led to his death from a cocaine overdose at age 28. | |
