| I've always really liked this song. The best time I remember listening to it was on my way to my last class of college. My graduation was finally within reach. I took in the whole drive with my windows down. I remember every moment of that drive because of this song. Just feeling good. | |

I've always liked this song, but recent events has made me think of it in a different light. My fiancé/girlfriend for 4 years has recently cheated on me. Since then I started talking to another girl, not to get back at her or anything, just to get things off my chest since she was cheated on as well. We have become good friends, and talk a lot. My girlfriend came into town and we went to a party together. She wanted to leave early to finish up some homework/wasn't interested in hanging out anymore. My new found friend was the one to drive me home that night. The main line in this song for me: You can't go on, thinkin', nothin's wrong. Who's gonna drive you home tonight? I am very hurt, and I can't see how things can go back to normal with my long term relationship. It really sucks to end something that has lasted so long, your life changes completely. But this song makes me think of who is really taking care of me? The person I once loved entirely (that can barely trust anymore), or this girl I have just recently found who would actually do these things for me. I can't continue to think nothing is wrong. |

I don't know what the band things this song is about. This is my interpretation. To me this song is in general about someone cheating on someone. I'm gonna fight 'em off, a seven nation army couldn't hold me back They're gonna rip it off, taking their time right behind my back And I'm talking to myself at night because I can't forget Back and forth through my mind, behind a cigarette And the message coming from my eyes says leave it alone (This first part is about him getting angry, they are having sex "behind his back" as if they think he doesn't know. He is going crazy talking to himself, smoking a lot. He tells himself to just call it off and "leave it alone".) Don't want to hear about it: every single one's got a story to tell Everyone knows about it, from the Queen of England to the hounds of hell And if I catch you comin' back my way, I'm gonna sell it to you And that ain't what you want to hear, but that's what I'll do And the feeling coming from my bones says mind your own (He doesn't want to talk about it. All his friends know, they all have their take on what he should do. If she tries to come back to him he is going to let her have it, and bitch her our. Obviously that isn't what she is going to want to hear, but that's what he is going to do. He knows inside that he should just break it off with her and just be done.) I'm going to Wichita, far from this opera forever more I'm gonna work the straw, make the sweat drip out of every pore And I'm bleedin', and I'm bleedin', and I'm bleedin' right before the Lord All the words are gonna bleed from me and I will think no more And the stains coming from my blood tell me "go back home!" (He is just going to live a life by himself for a while, get his mind back on track. When he does all of this, he starts to get weak again and feels like he needs to go back to her.) |

| Fleetwood Mac – Never Going Back Again Lyrics | 11 years ago |

I'm not sure about the meaning for the band members, but this is my interpretation. She broke down and let me in Made me see where I've been (The person is/was in a relationship with this girl that let him in. She wanted to know what he has been doing. She broke down as in he continually asked for forgiveness, and she is going to talk with him again.) Been down one time Been down two times I'm never going back again (This is him saying that he has pretty much cheated on her, or after they broke up he was with people that he did not want to be with. Telling his relationships he had on the side or after they broke up.) You don't know what it means to win Come down and see me again (Here she is still hurt and playing games with him possibly. He tells her pretty much that she has won, I'm coming back to you; let me inside so we can talk.) Been down one time Been down two times I'm never going back again This song is really great. It has two meanings to me. 1) He cheated on her, and she still is accepting him back. 2) They broke up and he is coming to get back together after he has been with other people. |

I see it somewhat like the Old and New Testament and Heaven. It is hard to get into Heaven. The water's going down, it's a mighty tight squeeze. The floods of Noah; God promised not to destroy the world like that again. Jesus is coming and there will be a new way. All alone the Capitan (God) stands. He hasn't heard from his deck hands (prophets and other religious people of the Old Testament). The gambler (the devil) makes his bet with God. It's the second half of the cruise (New Testament) and you know He (God) hates to lose. God sends his only Son to save everyone and win the bet. From Matthew 19:24 "Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God." A mighty tight squeeze indeed. |

| Eric Clapton – Promises Lyrics | 16 years ago |

- I think this song is about a man who is trying to be strong and pretend that he doesn't care about the woman he loves so much. I don't care if you never come home, I don't mind if you just keep on Rowing away on a distant sea, Cause I don't love you and you don't love me. - She goes out with other "lovers" and he continues to pretend he isn't hurting from everything she is doing to him, so he leaves her alone. I don't care what you do at night, Oh, and I don't care how you get your delights. I'm gonna leave you alone, I'll just let it be, I don't love you and you don't love me. -He never imagined that this would happen to them since they had made promises to be there for each other forever. I got a problem. Can you relate? I got a woman calling love hate. We made a vow we'd always be friends. How could we know that promises end? - He is trying to do all of this for her because it is how she wanted it and he was just trying it for her sake to see if she might come back to him if he pretends he doesn't need her. In reality he always needed her. He was always ready and willing... waiting for her for years. In the end he is finally breaking down and confessing how much he loves her and would take her back if she would just love him. I tried to love you for years upon years, You refuse to take me for real. It's time you saw what I want you to see, And I'd still love you if you'd just love me. |
