Gorillaz – Dirty Harry Lyrics 15 years ago
I really can't comment on the song's meaning, seeing as how it's pretty much already been said by multiple people.

What I can comment on; I LOVE the keyboard riff, and I LOVE 2D's dancing in the music video! Does anyone know what the name of the dance he does is? If you don't know how he dances, you'll have to watch the video yourselves, because I, for the life of me, cannot describe it.

Disturbed – Liberate Lyrics 16 years ago
A lot of people commenting say that this song is either anti-religious, or that it's about how people SHOULD open their mind to religion.

Personally, I think the song has very little to do with religion, and a lot to do with man's greatest sin; narrow-mindedness.

A lot of conflicts in the world today - whether they're as small as a fight on the playground at an elementary school, or as big as war - stem from one reason; narrow-mindedness. Because people refuse to open their minds to new ideas or ways of thinking, they believe that people who are different must be wrong, and so they make fun of or hurt them. And in the song, David is basically telling people to "Liberate their minds", and refers to those closed-minded people as "motherfuckers".

As for the whole "modern Messiah" part... Well, I think that's saying that people are waiting for Jesus to come and "take away all the hatred". But we don't KNOW when Jesus will rise again, so we need to change our way of thinking NOW, and not wait for him to do it for us. Jesus helps those that help themselves, after all.

Green Day – American Idiot Lyrics 16 years ago
The song is simple; we Americans have become too f*cking paranoid.

I mean, after 9/11, I expected us to become a LITTLE bit more paranoid; that's understandable. But we've taken our paranoia to a whole new level.

You want an example?

In Kentucky, an 18-year old high school student was arrested as a suspected terrorist... Because he wrote a fiction story about zombies overrunning a high school.

Yeah, it's true. We are so paranoid that we see a BAD ZOMBIE STORY WRITTEN BY A KID as a threat to national security! Why don't we arrest George Romero while we're at it? And Stephen King! And hey, why stop there?! Let's arrest EVERYBODY that EVER had ANYTHING to do with the making of a work of FICTION involving violence in the school!!

(sigh) Moronic people like the police in Kentucky make me ashamed to be an American.

P.S. Sorry if someone already mentioned this story. But I was not gonna look through 96 pages just to see if someone previously pointed out how idiotic the Kentucky police are.

P.S.S. I was just talking about the police who arrested that kid, not every police officer in Kentucky. The rest of you are cool. But those specific officers are f*cking morons.
