New Found Glory – 47 Lyrics 10 years ago
I think it's about the girl going back to her old boyfriend.

"Focus on the prize" - him saying to look at the "prize" she has now instead of being stuck on the last guy.

"Maybe our intentions were wrong from the start" - She may have found him on a rebound to get over the last guy and he knew this but thought they had something special.

"You said you hate your last love and it's soon enough that you will forget" - Probably her lying to him (and even herself) and saying that she hates him and is over him.

"Forget him, you're what I'm waiting for" - Confirms the above.

As for the chorus, I think "I called you 46 times and you answered on the 47th" means he called her 46 times and she ignored his calls. Her old boyfriend called on the 47th and she answered.

Broadway Calls – So Long My Friend Lyrics 15 years ago
Definitely one of the best songs on the album. I think this song's meaning is pretty obvious. He is sick of everyone around him - all his fake friends and the meaningless sex - so he is leaving to get away from it all. I love the part "He said this ship is sailing, and I am done explaining". I'm not sure if this is the image he meant, but it brings to mind a vivid image of the captain of a ship telling him the ship is about to leave, so he walks away from everyone trying to stop him and gets on the ship.

Does anyone have any ideas about why he switches from talking about himself to talking about someone else?

Saves the Day – Third Engine Lyrics 15 years ago
I think the line is "out there in the offing everything was melon and orange". The way it is on here doesn't make any sense. As ssjEasterBunny said, the offing refers to the far away ocean. He is looking out to sea and sees the offing and sunset (sunrise?) and it's melon and orange. But he's also looking forward to seeing her in the offing. Easter, you described how I feel about this line exactly. Well said. I always liked this song, but when I really started to read the lyrics I absolutely fell in love with it. Definitely one of my favorite STD songs, which is saying a lot.

Saves the Day – See You Lyrics 16 years ago
I agree with trinket. I think this is all about Chris's Crohn's...

The first part (my gut is burning...burn me up) is about how he is sick of all his pain and just wants it to all go away by any way possible.

The chorus is about how he literally doesn't have the stomach to call her. He feels sick and is in pain and just wants to be alone.

I think in the part about his head he is saying that while everything seems like it is getting to be too much with the depression and everything else that goes with Crohn's, he just has to move on with his life anyway because things won't get any better (Crohn's has no cure).

The next part is tricky. I read an interview where Chris talked about his Crohn's and (sorry to be so graphic) he talked about how he would be running to his hotel room on tour not being able to control his bowels and it would be running down his legs. I think he might be saying he could wear plastic wrap and glass shoes, but instead he is just going to wear his "insides" and be proud of who he is.

And in my favorite line of the song, he says he wants to know who he really would be without the Crohn's and what his life would be like.

Anyway, just my interpretation of the song.
