I think we are entitled to our own opinion and who's to say our opinion is wrong or that we must stop thinking too much about love sometimes? e_ski135 has every right to think of this song as a love song since her words will not cease this song into something despicable or something to all of us who love this song--unless we are one of those people who keep telling others to program their minds so that they will not be that different from the way we selfishly think. Love of someone--of people, I believe has the same power for an individual to love and take good care of this planet, simply because one loves and I believe, this the message can be found in this song too if we start to learn to respect other people's opinion--and LOVE. |

Emerahl, I think they were deeply involved with each other too, as shown in the line "Can you kneel before the king and say, "I'm clean, I'm clean." It's like the narrator dares his best friend to claim he (the bf) was 100% straight in front of god when he...wasn't.
Addictive song--this one. It is. |

I can imagine the narrator singing this song to his significant other because it's hard to love someone when things aren't the same anymore (especially in the narrator's part, we can see that he's falling apart and the pain is apparent in his voice as he begs for her to "rain down on him").
It's a sad song about trying to hold on love. |

*And I will find love at last* not "I will follow at last"
The meaningless illusion of heterosexual love. The narrator might face violent reprisal for her sexual preference in which other people kept telling her that her unnatural appetite was due to her not having found her "perfect man" yet. Meanwhile, she was forced to "repent" while those people were kind enough to inform her of their generosity to find her "a man".
Just a personal interpretation, though. |

Agreed. If so many people assume she writes from male perspective, why can't we reason that this song is written from a lesbian perspective? Even that mayn't indicate Regina is a lesbian. She's just a great singer-songwriter whose songs can be related to all types of listeners and audience. |
