I always thought it was about a job with a lousy boss, and this is him saying im done with this, im not dealing with how your treating me, "You know you can't hold me forever I didn't sign up with you" "So goodbye yellow brick road Where the dogs of society howl You can't plant me in your penthouse I'm going back to my plough" he is saying saying i am leaving i am going back to what I was doing before. here he is saying, "i am replacable" "Maybe you'll get a replacement There's plenty like me to be found Mongrels who ain't got a penny Sniffing for tidbits like you on the ground" he is pretty much saying to the boss he may find someone who is desperate for a job. and that anyone of decency would not even bother. its how bad it is. again thi sis just my interpretation, it may be completely off, but thats how i see this song. |
