I created this edit of I'm Ok. I have many, many cds with video clips of Christina performing live at concerts, daytime talk shows, VH1 Behind the Music, interviews, etc., so I came up with an idea in late 2002. I've never been so touched by a song as I was by I'm Ok. It was like she was singing about my very own childhood experience and I could feel every quiver of pain that she was feeling when she sang that song in 1 take. I decided to add a bit more to it because the reality for me was that I, personally, was NOT yet ok. So maybe I could add a few sound bites here and there that truly represented where I was in life at that time. Her original version would be and will always be a source of strength for me. It's my first time doing this, so I submitted the lyrics to I'm Ok (Heather's Mix). I just saw that you can listen to the song if you press the play button, but then you have to sign up or install the media program. I had no audio editing experience when I began the edit, so it took me quite some time to get it the way I wanted it. I'm really proud of it & I would love to know if there is a forum where I can upload my version for others to hear. I'd love to know what listeners out there think. Again, it's an amateur effort, but I love it so much; it's a very personal song for me. If you don't want the media program in order to hear it, I'd be more than happy to send it out to some emails. If you'd like it emailed to you, just respond to me on this forum & we'll figure out the best way for you to hear it. I'd love some feedback! Guess we'll see what happens! |

It is so rare to actually hear a singer who is truly musically talented anymore. For the most part, I believe that true musical artists play instruments and are able to compose music, but in Christina's case, her voice is her instrument and it took her several years to break away from all the teenie bopper pressure from the record label in the late 90's. When Stripped was released, we finally got to see the inside of her emotions. Her Stripped album will forever be representative of the most difficult years of my life. When I listen the album, I go right back to that very dark place and when it's over, I see how far I've come & how much life can get better. I will probably never have the honor of meeting Christina, but if I ever did, I would tell her that because her childhood wounds, so parallel to mine, that she chose to open, expose and heal, I finally had a string of hope to hold onto. She is a pillar of strength and I simply adore her. As I stated, I had no idea what I was doing when I started the edit so it took me quite a long time to get it right. Again, it's an amateur effort, but I love it so much that I have it backed up many places. Is it possible to put my version on this website? If not, if there is actually someone still reading this & you'd like to hear it, I'd be more than happy to email it to you. Guess we'll see what happens! |
