| Mae – The Sun And The Moon Lyrics | 16 years ago |

Mae is an amazing band and this song is a perfect example of their talent with music and lyrics. I was first introduced to them about three or four years ago and I actually hadn't really ever listened to this song until about a month ago. I recently got engaged to my boyfriend of almost 5 years and found this song while looking for something to walk down the isle to. To me this song is about just that, taking that final step in one's relationship. When he talks about "wasted time" I think he means, not having realized she was the one from the start. And then 'not being ready', is explaining how it wasn't his mission to fall in love and find his soulmate, but is just suddenly happened (as it usually does). As for the sun and the moon part, I agree with whoever said they were pale memories of the past, but also a symbol of guidance. He's looking at these pictures and remembering the path they went down together which lead them to this moment. "Branded for taking the fall" the fall could be falling in love or it could also mean getting engaged/married (you've heard of the phrase, "taking the plunge" right?) And branded being they've become apart of each other (or the wedding ring). The last two lines are the most meaningful "so when you say forever, can't you see you've already captured me" Beautiful. I cried when I listened to this song with my fiance to see if he liked it as the isle song (don't know the correct title). But yea, that's my long, gushy, romantic interpretation. Also, I realize it's over 7 minutes long, so we're going to crop and shorten it to around 3 and 1/2 minutes (meaning most of the instrumental will be cut :sad face: but it's the lyrics that are important to me for that moment). :) |
