| Gregory Alan Isakov – Big Black Car Lyrics | 13 years ago |
|
This song plays well versed picture. The song suits a void within the character's heart. The inevitable failure of his loving relationship, is characterized by an unworthy sensitivity. He remembers himself listening to her with passion characterizing her as his "miracle", while he was "holdin', her "space". The next verse leads associating "space", with "time". He holds dramatic remorse for this abrupt and certain heartbreak. "The future is laced", foreshadows the end of all contact, for "The past, she is haunted." Big Black Car is symbolic of death, in this case the death within his heart. He claims he "was in the back seat", meaning he was not unaware of the situations that lead to this tragic heartbreak. Now peering through the backseat window of the Big Black Car, "the corn crows come like rain." The season is over, however the crows are symbolic of all the idiosyncratic places reminding his lost harvest in love. "They won't stay, they won't stay". His future is also laced, he knows that these reminders will come to pass. He knows this process is long, however not "For too long now". He is optimistic despite the pain of thinking, "this could be all that we know of love?" All he feels is the heartbreak. In comparison to the dancer she was, he knows he was the rag. Symbolized to blister his useless presence. The song playing in his head numbs his realization of noticing anything wrong at all. Love being the country "we" couldn't defend is instating his mind in present state. Much like speaking from the 3rd person. It is out of his mind and control. The ending verses come simply as a show. The writer empathizes with anyone joining this carnival of love, always hearing of that perfect love is just a joke. He knows her future is destined, he wishes he could be a part in her journey. Maybe she will remember him, only from the good times of his glory. |

| The Smashing Pumpkins – Cherub Rock Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| This song is the definition of todays societal structure. Where ever your place may be in society you almost always destined to fall in line, "Doesn't matter what you believe in." You will fall in place of what you see laid out before you. This song is amazing because it may not only apply to teens but also politics. Lets explore teenage youth. It is not at all hard to see our youth's emotional priorities deteriorating due to the over dramatization by frequencies distributed by the media. By this I mean much of "the youth" has been putting thoughts that are completely pointless and sinful before vital importances of life. These importances for example are, eating, sleeping, hydrating properly, reading, loving, and respecting. Self respect is a vital component to life because with out that you can not properly respect another. So when we have "our youth" not respecting them selfs they fall into line and become "somebody's fool this year." They follow and engage in new activities of their new group until they find another to follow next. As long as we appear cool and "stay cool" nothing else really matters right? This is a common misconception of male youth. We are becoming more feminine in the ways we act, dress, and perceive the world around. Young women just as messed up as men. "We are frightened and we're scared" "If you don't stare." This is horrible but true to many, just watch MTV for 5 minutes and try to make logical sense of the interactions laid out before you. Is this truly how we should be acting in society? | |
| Eric Clapton – Bell Bottom Blues Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
This song reaches beneath the soul as it prophetically describes the feeling of heartbreak. Not wanting to "loose this feeling" is the grip of the hearts sensation for who he loves the most. He then sings screaming! the length he will go or "beg for you to take me back!!!". He has an utter feeling of obliteration and shock. From here he understands that she might or will not think of him as much when she is all he can see. This makes him beg "Give me one more day please". If he "fades away" to him "its all wrong" but he has to understand being, a kind emotional man for her sake "its all right" so thats when he bites the bullet and anchors the pain and feels absolute devastation but knows he is still a Great Man and she will never find another one quite like him.- "Never find a better loser". He speaks of this fight of love that he lost. Now its time to part and he cant "say goodbye" she is the all perfect love in his eyes remember, so in desperation he threatens when they meet again "don't you be surprised If you find me with another lover". This is the hardest thing for a Great Man, It is to picture himself with another lover, but he knows he must be happy and that is to be with someone as special as he is. Its pain staking to experience this, but he will later find what hes been waiting for. |

| Beck – Earthquake Weather Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
This is clearly about the tangled weather of our mother earth. The realization is that we have no control over it and unlike the universe it all remains at a constant flow within its own boundaries. By this I mean that the universe always is expanding "space ships can't tame the jungle" as if the universe contains no form of time, a rapidly fast pace sets new realms of infinite possibility. However here on earth time is slowly constant and as so called "intelligent organisms" we mainly use a mere 10% of our massive brains its much like a lock that we will never find until after death. So we all wonder the earth using maps to try and find this key but we are doomed with "little brains" until our death. The irony behind the song could quite possibly be religion, "into a void we filled with death/ and noise that laughs/ falls off their maps/ all cured of pain and doubts" Picture the earth as one big spherical map then through death you will fall from this map cured of pain and doubts, here I find the presence of God and spirit being unlocked with that key you were always looking for. Your mind lay freed to experience the full 100% capacity of the universe. |

| Beck – Already Dead Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
This song has very powerful imagery and consistently fades "black" until the very end. It is very overly apparent that BECK has deep meanings behind all of their lyrics. It is impossible to come to any realization but your own. I feel this song is about a man who follows his love for a long time and holds her much like a treasure. Slowly but surely what ever he does he seems to lose her every which way he tries to hold her. As "time slips away" light begins to fade away along with his day and he feels hopeless and utterly venerable. When men allow them selfs to be weak and venerable to love we hold it sacred and solemn so when the woman fades away we are helpless. He says "already dead to me now" out of a last battle of retaliation by his mind severing his heart. Of course this song is of an emotional man, one of great care and misery. |

| The Beatles – You've Got to Hide Your Love Away Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Gather round all you clowns, this song is about a man who is tied between his true love. The fatality is that she always seems to slip away from him. He is a gracious loving man with old fashions, he finds himself a beautiful woman whom he always falls into a binding love then can never win. "I can hear them laugh at me", these expression are of the voices in his head, he is paranoid of his actions and can not understand his feelings other than it hurts. He constantly wallows through his life finding a love starring at a wall and then simply losing her, the key behind this song is truly to, Hide your love away. Hiding your love will not push a girl into a relationship helping her to want a relationship more an more through friendship. Pushing a good girl into love will be fatal. However for this man it is impossible to hide his love for it is who he is he is a loving man who just wants peace in his life. | |
