Think about the title of this song... "Heavy Hangs the Albatross"... first of all, it's an allusion to carrying a burden like in the poem by Samuel Coleridge "Rime of the Ancient Mariner" The burden the narrator is carrying is the murder of Annabel, HE MURDERED HER!!!!!!!! The Albatross is figuratively chained around his neck which is a metaphor for carrying a burden on your soul! Hmmm.... murder |

Annabel's lover is Annabel's killer... take some time to actually read the lyrics and understand them, then it will all make sense to you... it's not a cliche love story, it's an intricate story of love and insanity |
