I love this song so much. But I feel like because it's catchy and by Owl City, and sounds kinda happy, it's often regarded as a cute electronic pop song, when actually it is a brilliant, poetic, song about mourning. You can lighten it up and say it's about a long distance relationship, but the lyrics suggest the girl he misses has died. He longs to talk to her and hear her voice, and if she were across the country, he could just call her. My favorite part is: "When violet eyes get brighter And heavy wings grow lighter I'll taste the sky and feel alive again And I'll forget the world that I knew But I swear I won't forget you Oh, if my voice could reach back through the past I'd whisper in your ear "Oh darling, I wish you were here" It really is beautiful and captures the feeling of missing someone in a poetic, magical way. Adam Young is a silent genius. This is one of 3 songs that have ever made me cry, and the only pop/electronic song to effect me so much. |

I agree. I'm a huge fan of John and all, and I don't mean to disrespect his memory, but he could really be an asshole. This song is an example. Paul, who "started it" had only 2 lines in Too Many People that were about John, and they weren't attacks. This song, is 100% an attack at John's best friend. It's really sad. He later felt bad and said it was about himself, but with all those references and all, there's no way. I'm glad they made up before John died... |

Here's how I feel about the whole Taylor - Joe songwriting battle. First, this is actually a really good song. I love Taylor, and Better than Revenge and Forever and Always but the Jonas Brothers really know how to write a song. Plus, this song isn't about hating Taylor. Think of what Taylor did to Joe. She made him look like a total naive jerk in a video and in two songs. Joe is singing about how he's NOT a jerk, and how his new girlfriend (Camilla?) is much better to him. This is a love song, Taylor's are hate songs. Everyone's saying that Joe was a total asshole to dump Taylor and write a song about how Camilla is better, but really, think of what Taylor did to him. |

I really love this song. The lyrics are so beautiful, and she sings it with so much emotion. I don't think she wrote it about Kanye, even though the lyrics (somewhat) apply to that situation. I feel like this song has so much emotion that it couldn't be about something as silly as an award show interruption by some jerk rapper she doesn't even know. Anyways, beautiful song that can apply to all adults who made mistakes. |

I have thought about the meaning about this song, and here it is. Its a very abstract song so the meanings arent clear: "Something filled up my heart with nothing, someone told me not to cry" I am actually not sure, i have ideas but i dont know how it connects to the rest of the song. any ideas? "But now that i'm older, my heart is colder and i can see that its a lie" Now i understand that the previous line was not true "Children, wake up, hold your mistake up before they turn the summers into dust" This is the clearest line of the song: Children, get ready, before your an adult and life is harder. Summers are the ultimate symbols of childhood joy "Childen dont grown up, our bodies get bigger but our hearts get torn up" Growing up is just life getting harder, so again, get ready We're just a million little god causing rainstorms, turning every good thing to rust" At first i didnt understand why it said rust, but then i realized that rain causes rust. this means that we are trying to control everthing but really just ruining it. this is not a reference to pollution or global warming "with my lightning bolt 'aglowin, i CAN see where i am going" a reference to heaven "when the reaper, he reaches and touches my hand" a reference to death "you better look out below! again, get ready! any comments, please reply!! or suggestion/questions " |
