get the feeling it's a song about drug addiction...maybe he's just waiting around, sleeping, dreaming, thinking about the day when he'll fall off the wagon again and get his fix. he doesn't seem to be worried about addiction and is instead preoccupied with how amazing the drug is. or maybe he's waiting for a woman? "Like one long season of rain, I will remain Thinking of you" one of my favorite lines. I once dated a guy who told me this song reminded him of me :] it was our first "date" and it was the first time I had ever heard mark lanegan. needless to say, I was deeply moved. |

| This song is about two people who are both patiently waiting for the other to come to them. for one reason or another, they haven't been able to or can't be together. maybe they broke up, and neither of them can find the courage or the will to return to the other; so they'll just wait and wait and hope their lover will eventually come to them. It's a sad song but there's a quality of desperation and desire that overshadow this. | |

To me, this is a song about unconditional, unrequited love. A man is so devotedly and helplessly in love with someone that he will continue to love them far after they've gone and forgotten about him--even though it tears him apart. I get the feeling that this person is no longer in his life and it's killing him to love her but he does it anyway. Sounds like he can't help it and even wants it this way. such a great song. I am amazed at Lanegan's ability to capture the most intense emotions/situations and articulate them so thoroughly and beautifully. gahh I love him!! |
