I think it's just about going to work out of town. My husband works out of town (as did my dad) and I think the darkness you're picking up is about the fact that you spend so many days away, and they add up- before you know it your kids are all grown up and you and your spouse are old. It's time you can never get back. |

I think this song is about two "damaged" people trying to make it work and failing, yet unable to end their relationship because they still care for each other. I would hazard to guess "round and around and around" refers to either the cycle of abuse... you get trapped between hurting each other/feeling awful about yourselves and brief moments of happiness. (Brief being the key word, no matter how wonderful they are.) |
