The Welcome Wagon – I Am A Stranger Lyrics 16 years ago
It seems to be about experiencing the fragility of being human. About feeling the effects of total depravity and despairing for your own sinfulness. When he says "What I desire I can't attain, from what I hate I can't be found" it is reminiscent of what Paul says in Romans 7:18-19 "I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. For what I do is not the good I want to do; no, the evil I do not want to do–this I keep on doing." or what he says in v.24-25 "Wretched man that I am! Who will save me from this body of death? Thanks be to God–through Jesus Christ our Lord!"
