| The Welcome Wagon – I Am A Stranger Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| It seems to be about experiencing the fragility of being human. About feeling the effects of total depravity and despairing for your own sinfulness. When he says "What I desire I can't attain, from what I hate I can't be found" it is reminiscent of what Paul says in Romans 7:18-19 "I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. For what I do is not the good I want to do; no, the evil I do not want to do–this I keep on doing." or what he says in v.24-25 "Wretched man that I am! Who will save me from this body of death? Thanks be to God–through Jesus Christ our Lord!" | |
